MOL Group, a Hungarian multinational oil and gas company awarded

Thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions (India) Pvt. Ltd. for design and detailing of

the polyol complex. Thyssenkrupp has awarded SunUp Engineering Private

Limited for Rebar Detailing and Concrete and Steel Modelling. The complex with

an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons of polyether polyol is built in

the northern Hungarian town of Tiszaújváros, 160 kilometers from the capital

Budapest, close to an existing MOL refinery. The structure stretched over

180,000sqm and comprised of 20,000 metric tonnage of steel, 70,000 cum

concrete usage and 7000 precast covering blocks having an approximate size

of 3500mm X 2000mm per block.

► Coordination with multiple teams:

One of the most challenging factors was working of different kinds of disciplines/departments on the same unit using Tekla Structures e.g., civil, piping, electrical, mechanical & instrumental. Collaboration of Tekla Structures with other software like PDMS, SP3D, etc., was a key imperative here for all departments to be able to work together.

► Generating clash free models:

Generating clash free models in this project was one of the toughest jobs the rebar modeler had in hand given the size & complexity of materials and disciplines involved.

► Seamless collaboration with different stakeholders:

Given the magnitude of the project, there were a number of stakeholders involved in it, making coordination among various disciplines as well as inter-discipline a particularly hard task. Tekla software enabled all users to work simultaneously & safely on the cloud server across different disciplines and locations. The Model Sharing tool offered seamless and error-free collaboration among the members of the team which was the most critical requirement to avoid errors, clashes and ultimately rework. It helped the team to ensure timely delivery of the project by saving several working hours & days.

Tekla’s simple user interface aided by icons and easy to find commands enabled even the first-time users from the SunUp team to reap all the benefits of the software with a lot of ease. Video tutorials available on Tekla Campus allowed the project team to self-train and tune their skills even more.

This feature of Tekla Structures helped the SunUp Team to create one unit of each type and then subsequently use it at many other locations. In fact, updating any changes thereafter was very easy as applying the changes in one unit would automatically reflect across all locations without any error or difference. This feature not only saved a lot of time but also greatly enhanced the productivity.

With the software’s BIM storage, the team could find and extract components straight to their models and the ready-made content speeded up the modeling process.
