The Common Ground Alliance (CGA) is a member-driven association dedicated to ensuring public safety, environmental protection, and the integrity of services by promoting effective damage prevention practices. What is the DIRT Tool?
The DIRT tool is an online reporting system that has been established to help identify:

2. Frequency of damages
3. Root cause of damages
The goal of DIRT is to reduce damages to underground facilities and their associated costs, reduce the number of personal injuries and deaths, and prevent vital service outages.

What is the data used for? The data is scrubbed to remove specific
information about the companies involved. It is then released in a report that is shared via the web.
Those that submit data get their information back so that it can be compared to national and regional data.

How can it help us in Florida? By submitting data to DIRT and granting
access to SSOCOF, we can focus our resources on specific geographic areas and target marketing to groups that are identified as needing education.
This also allows SSOCOF to measure the effectiveness of marketing programs, liaison activity and enforcement.
