Sunshine Online Guide

Step 1:

Login to sunshine online. The website can be accessed through the student portal page. bit.y/newportcb

Once your child has logged on using their department of education login details, scoll down and click on the sunshine online icon

Username: Newport

Password: Newport1

Step 2:

Select student level

“Emergent levels 1-5” (as a guide, this is appropriate for most Kindergarten students)

Step 3:

Refer to your child’s home learning plan for which section to go to or if using in addition to the home learning plan choose from any of the different sections. See below for more detailed information on what the activities include.

Students can select a book to have read to them and then complete the activities

Numeracy based picture books which focus on a range of numeracy topics. This section also has activities linked to the books.

Books for students to use to practise guided reading.

When you select “alphabet” you will be brought to this page.

You can choose from any of these letters and complete the activities. There is also an option for printing activities if you have access to a printer/ wish to do so.

Words section of sunshine online:

When you select “words” from the main menu it will bring you here. Select from words list to do some activities to support with learning sight words.

This is the page you will come to when you click on “literacy”. Assist your child in selecting a book. Encourage them to read along. The books that have the activities icon next to them also have activities for your child to do.

This is the page you will come to when you click “maths”. Similar to the other sections select a book you want to read or read along with. Then click on the right of the book to complete the activities. The books and activities are based on numeracy concepts.

This section can be used to assist students in practising their reading skills. Select a book for

your child to read by clicking on the front cover. Use the arrows on either side of the books to view more or to go back. Once you select the book you would like to read click on it. Then

assist your child to read it.
