On Tuesday 29 June 2010 Council’s Strategy and Policy Committee adopted the draft Stormwater (Pollution Prevention) Bylaw 2010 for the purposes of public consultation.

The draft policy will be open for public submissions until Friday 6 August 2010.

The purpose of the Draft Stormwater (Pollution Prevention) Bylaw 2010 is to prevent the misuse of Council’s public stormwater network by:

Controlling the discharge of contaminants into the network•

Requiring the use of the network for the drainage of • stormwater only

Protecting the network from damage or alteration•

Draft Liquor-free and Vehicle-free zones in Public Places Bylaw 2010 On Tuesday 25 May 2010 Council’s Strategy and Policy Committee adopted the draft Liquor-free and Vehicle-free Zones in Public Places Bylaw 2010 for the purposes of public consultation.

The draft bylaw will be open for public submissions from Thursday 1 July until Monday 2 August 2010.

The purpose of the Draft Liquor-free and Vehicle-free Zones in public Places Bylaw 2010 is to encourage responsible behaviour in identifi ed public places within the city where groups of people gather frequently, and to limit the effects of alcohol on those people and places.

The existing permanent liquor-free areas will remain, with the proposal to add a number including:

Tauranga Domain and Wharepai Domain•

Papamoa Domain (and a number of other reserves in Papamoa)•

Carlton Street Reserve•
