The Sundyne family of compressors features single-stage and multi-stage centrifugal designs for reliable servicein API-617 and general industrial applications. These compressors are computer optimized to fit your exactdesign requirements.
The Sundyne aerodynamic designs allow forcontinuous duty at the design flow and at low flows, and permit full curve protectionusing minimum driver sizes. Open impeller design eliminates efficiency degradation and frequent adjustments. Installation and maintenance are simple and straight-forward. Standard 8-12 week deliveries can often be expedited to3 weeks. Let us show you more!
Sundyne Corporation, a subsidiary of Hamilton-Sundstrand Corporation, a United TechnologiesCompany, is a leading high technology corporationhaving a reputation for excellence in both the aerospace and commercial industries.
Sundyne Corporation traces its origin to Sundstrand’sAviation Division when this aerospace group was contracted by Boeing Aircraft to build a high pressurewater injection pump to increase jet engine thrust during take-off. It was from this unique high speed,single-stage centrifugal pump that Sundstrand FluidHandling (now Sundyne Corporation) got its start. In1965, while working in cooperation with a major GulfCoast chemical company, a derivative of this aerospace design was introduced to the hydrocarbonprocessing industry as a process gas compressor.
A full range of tests are available, including vibrationanalysis, metallurgical checks, casing radiography, sound power level tests, and more. Each compressoris given a complete hydrostatic and performance testto assure quality and reliability.
We remain committed to maintaining our technologicalleadership as a supplier of compressors and pumps. We are dedicated to providing reliable, economicalunits delivered on time, as well as aftermarket service to keep you on line.
Sundyne Technology Does Make A Difference!

Mechanical Seal Arrangements
Single Gas SealStandard seal used in non-abrasive or non-hazardous applications.Seal flush gas into Port 5 may be used to protect the seal fromparticulates.
Double Gas or Liquid SealRecommended when the gas contains abrasives or if leakage couldbe hazardous. Seals may be selected for a dry gas or a liquid buffersystem. Buffer gas may be dead-headed into Port 7.
Tandem Gas SealRecommended for high pressure, cryogenic and other hazardousapplications. Extensively used to reduce seal emissions. Normally abuffer system is not required.

Pictured above is a self-acting gas mechanical seal and rotatingface that is used for many applications. The “hydropad” designuses radial grooves cut into the stationary carbon which act ascooling passages for the gas to feed into the carbon/tungsten carbide interface forming a thin film of gas for the carbon to ride on.
Pictured above is a self-acting gas mechanical seal and rotatingface that is used for low differential pressure, clean gas applications. The spiral grooves etched into the rotating face pullgas into the carbon/tungsten carbide interface creating a thin filmof gas for the carbon to ride on.
Features
• Minimum gas leakage, both during compressor idle andoperational modes
• Dry running, no lubrication required• Minimizes the need for seal support systems• Pressures to 1250 psid (86 bard) per seal• Speeds to 34,000 rpm
This chart, based on nitrogen gas, is used to estimateprocess gas leakage across a single or tandem gas sealarrangement. For a single or tandem seal, the pressuredrop represents the difference between suction pressureand atmospheric pressure. The chart can also be used toestimate buffer gas leakage across the faces of a doublegas seal arrangement. Since the top seal is exposed tothe full pressure drop from buffer gas pressure to ventpressure, the single seal curve can be used to estimateleakage across the top seal. The lower seal is exposed toa pressure differential represented by the differencebetween buffer gas pressure and suction pressure. Thesingle seal curve can also be used to determine the bufferleakage rate across the lower seal into the process gas.

Hydropad Technology
Spiral Groove Technology
Wavy Face Technology
The wavy face seal represents the latest technology in gas sealing. This patented design utilizes a series of undulations in the rotatingface to accomplish the important lift-off feature required of gasseals while maintaining very low leakage through the use of a sealdam. The stationary face is typically a binder-filled carbon running against a reaction-bonded silicon carbide rotating face.

Everything from basic surge detection to complete surge controlsystems can be custom engineered to job requirements andskid mounted, saving field installation time.
For vertical configuration units with motor weights over 3500 lbs. (1591 kg)
Pictured unit has:• Removable noise panels• Ventilation blower• Lube oil console• Control panel with vibration monitor and annunciation• Common baseplate
Vertical stand units keep the small space advantage of a vertical unit, while allowing the use of a larger motor and providing for accessory mounting. Compressor maintenance can be performed without removing motor.
Pictured unit includes:
• Vibration monitor• Seal leakage alarm• Lubrication system temperature/pressure monitoring• Surge control system• Auxiliary lube system start-up/shutdown logic• Compressor process gas temperature/pressure monitoring• Reset/acknowledge• Pneumatic cabinet purge• Stainless steel cabinet
A choice of standard panel packages or custom engineeredunits are available either skid or remote control room mounted.Options include: Annunciator horns, lighted panel alarms, shut-down, indictors, automated and manual start/stop sequencing, lockouts, and purging.
Pictured unit includes:
• Dual filters• Temperature and pressure control valves with bypass• Isolated instrumentation loops• Complete oil temperature and pressure monitoring• Skid mounted drains and vents• Back-up lubrication system• Electrics rated to CL I Div. 2 GP. D
Sundyne standard or API specification seal and lube oil systemcan be designed and manufactured to job requirements.
Pictured unit includes:
• Explosion proof enclosure - non-purged• Motor on/off indicator lights• Motor start/stop switches• Lube oil temperature and pressure alarm/shutdown indicator
lights• High seal leakage indicator light• Vibration monitor• Reset
An economical way to handle local skid mounted control panelrequirements without the need for a pneumatic purge. SundyneCorporation can supply a number of existing designs or manufacture one to job requirements.
Pictured unit includes:
• Small control panel• Vibration monitor• Auxiliary lube system•Process extension spools
With complete fabrication facilities and over 30 years experience, custom designed baseplates are readily handled, or selectioncan be made from any number of existing designs.
Panel type, mounted on a horizontal unit with removable panels, gaugeboard and forced air ventilation. This enclosure also covers the processend and gearbox. Average noise reduction is in the range of 10 dBA.
