Merry Christmas from all the priests of the Archdiocese of Boston!! All of the money collected on Christmas throughout the Archdiocese of Boston, will be used for the
Clergy Benefit Trust Fund. This Christmas Collection supports the retirement, medical and financial needs of priests of the Archdiocese. Because of rising health care costs and the increased number of retiring priests, the levels needed for funding have risen dramatically and the Clergy Benefit Trust is in immediate need of replenishment. In gratitude for all that the priests have done for us, we strongly encourage you to give generously to this collection.

Deacon James Greer of the Archdiocese Bereavement Ministry Talking to Kids about the Paris Attacks
I have no words for the tragedy that unfolded in Paris. Devastating incidents make us acutely aware that parenting doesn’t come with a handbook. We know our children need us to guide and support them, but it is hard to know what the right things are to say or do. So in this moment, we hope these tips may help in talking to children about the attacks. Be aware of your own feelings. Let them lead the conversation. You may open the door but it is important to let the child
guide the discussion. This will allow you to provide as much information as they need without going beyond their limits.
Don’t assume silence means they don’t know what is going on. Be aware of tv, radio, and internet news. Children may still be getting information even if the
tv/radio is off. Identify specific anxieties. Children often know when an assurance is false or unrealistic. Be clear about what is being done to keep everyone safe. Be sure to make discussion age
appropriate. Stress that such events are rare. Identify ways to calm down. Breathe, read, draw, or do whatever is of comfort to your child Spend time together and stick to routine Don’t forget the words of Mr. Rogers: “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the
news, my mother would say to me, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”
