At the point of poverty, when giving even the smallest amount of what they had could imperil their health and well-being, they trusted God and gave anyway. What is important about their giving is not what or how much they gave, but how they gave it. Without selϐishness, they gave to help others. Their giving was from the heart, with little hope or intention of receiving any sort of reward or recognition for their generosity. The monetary values of the widows’ gifts were small, but their value measured in the Kingdom was priceless. There is a signiϐicant similarity between their gift and the gift Jesus gave each of us. The widows offered their lives for God. Jesus offered his life for us.

Thanksgiving Mass Each year, an inspiring Thanksgiving Mass is celebrated at 8:00AM on Thanksgiving morning at St. Bridget Church. It is a wonderful Mass and we encourage you to attend. Students from kindergarten through 3rd grade are asked to take a special part in this Mass by dressing up as a Pilgrim or a Native American and participating in the opening procession. We have a limited number of costumes available at the rectory for those who would like to participate. If your child would like to be a Pilgrim or Native American, please contact Kim DeMeo with your child's name and grade at [email protected] . Those who participate will need to sign out a costume at the rectory and arrive at the church in costume by 7:45AM on Thanksgiving morning. In addition we are looking for a few parents to help with the children on Thanksgiving morning. If you are available, please let us know.

Family Promise

For children who live at Family Promise Metrowest a picture is worth just one word, HOPE, thanks to inspiration from award-winning photojournalist, Linda Solomon, who brought her acclaimed program “Pictures of Hope” to the Day Center in August. Ms. Solomon, who provided an interactive photography lesson, believes, “Through photography, children share their heartfelt feelings. Their hopes and dreams captured in quiet moments tell a story that few adults can imagine. The experience is “life-changing”.” Equipped with digital cameras of their own to keep, provided by Walgreens, the children captured unique hopes and dreams which will be transformed into holiday greeting cards, “Pictures of Hope”, to be sold through Family Promise Metrowest. *One hundred percent of the proceeds will be used for the benefit of the children served. Christmas Outreach Program ! ! ! Give a child a Christmas!

Christmas is coming and our Christmas Outreach program is getting ready to go! Our program provides Christmas gifts for those children served by our Parish Food Pantry. Each child is allowed to ask for 2 gifts. Pick one ornament off of the tree. Each ornament lists a child’s age, gender and a gift they would like. Gifts should not exceed $50. Please wrap the gift and return it with the tag to the rectory by Sunday, December 6th.

Help make a child’s Christmas brighter! Do you work for a company that would be interested in getting involved? Do you belong to a group that does charitable donations? If you have any questions please contact Shauna Downey at [email protected] or 508-879-5959.

Grade Two Parent Meeting (for both the school and religious education parents) will take place on Tuesday, November 17 at 7:00pm in the school hall.

Reconciliation will be the topic presented by Tim and Sue Muldoon. They are the author of "Six Sacred Rules for Families". The children will be receiving their First Reconciliation in January. Tim and Sue will share how we all can take the time out of our everyday busy lives - and ask God for His help to guide us in making the right decisions as parents and for our children. They were scheduled to join us last year but due to a family emergency, they could not attend. If you would like to experience this presentation this year, please join us. Please contact Mrs. Gail Barbato at 508-879-4271x1 or by email at [email protected] if you cannot make the parent meeting. We would like to have at least one parent to attend the meeting. A little background on Tim and Sue: Tim and Sue Muldoon bring a wealth of experience as parents, spiritual guides, and religious educators to a practical book for parents that offers six sacred rules for integrating faith into everyday life. The basic guide to family spirituality provides parents with practical tools they need. The Muldoon’s present rules that encourage, stretch, and revitalize family faith—helping parents give their children basic lessons in learning to pray, deepening love, widening faith, and cultivating a spiritual vision of life. Tim Muldoon is a professor and author/editor of several other books. He currently serves in the Division of University Mission and Ministry at Boston College and teaches in the University’s College of Arts and sciences. Sue Muldoon is a therapist and religious educator who has worked in clinical, collegiate, and parish settings. She worked for many years in college counseling at Saint Vincent College and Saint Francis University, and she is now the Director of Religious Education for Good Shepherd Parish in Wayland, Massachusetts.
