Church Family,
This Sunday is “National Back To Church” Sunday across America. Please utilize this opportunity to invite
someone to come to church with you this Sunday. I will be preaching a special message, and I am asking the
Lord to bless us with great attendance and a spiritual harvest of souls for the kingdom.
We will follow this special emphasis with our church-wide small group study called “One Month to Live.” It is
my desire for this 30 day period of time to lead us into a “no regrets” lifestyle. The most important resource we
have been given in this life is “time.” Our “time” on earth is limited, and no matter how much we dislike this
idea, it’s a truth we must acknowledge and embrace. With every tick of the clock, another moment of our life is
behind us. Our days are numbered, and each moment that passes is gone forever. For many people, these hard
facts can be crippling, but it does not have to overwhelm us in a negative way. The purpose we are doing this
church-wide study for is to motivate us to “embrace our time on earth as a limited resource, and in so doing
become so liberated that we actually live each moment to its full potential!” When my time on this earth is over I
want everyone who knew me to know the answer to these questions by looking at the life I lived: What did I live
for? Whom did I love? And what were my passions? I don’t know about you but I don’t want to live this life and
come to the end of it and have a lot of regrets.
In order to help us make this church-wide small group study as successful as it can be, I need you to make a
personal investment in these 30 days. I need at least 25 people to agree to facilitate a small group during these 30
days. You can facilitate a small group from your home, apartment, office, restaurant or at the church. You can
facilitate a small group on any day or night of the week. A few of our Sunday School classes will do this study
during Sunday School. I will facilitate a large group on Sunday evenings in the Sanctuary at 6:00 pm. If you
would like to facilitate a small group on Sunday evening, that would be great, and child care will be provided
during the 6:00 hour on Sunday evenings.
For those who are not going to facilitate a small group I need you to sign up to be in a small group or sign up to
be in my large group on Sunday evenings. Our desire is for 100% participation from our members and
attenders. You can sign up in the atrium, and materials will be available soon. Please use this opportunity to
invite your friends, family members and co-workers to join you in your small group or in another small group
that works best for their schedule. If our time on the earth is limited, shouldn’t we start making the most of it
right now? Our challenge is simple: start living your life as if you only had one month to live! There are four (4)
universal principles in a one-month-to-live lifestyle; live passionately, love completely, learn humbly and leave
boldly!
I look forward to seeing you Sunday, and I will once again be swinging the two-edged sword!
Brother Bobby

55+ Young At Heart Sept. 19th @ 10:30 am in Adult 1
The cooler weather is welcomed by each of
us. Our Heavenly Father is so good to us, and He takes care
of each of our needs.
Next Wednesday, Sept. 19th, we will be meeting at 10:30
am in Adult 1 for our 55 plus Young at Heart meeting.
Our program will feature Rita Fulmer singing some of the
old songs that you love so dearly. Rita is a terrific singer.
Some of you Bible study leaders might want to come and
hear her and schedule her for your class Christmas party
entertainment. Our meal will be “Hot Tamales;” you bring
the sides! Bring non-perishable food for the FISH
ministries. After lunch, we will play chicken foot, etc ...
Clyde Dennis and Martin Strand have returned from New
Orleans with the Texas Baptist Men Disaster Team. While
there they were able to feed those that were without food.
Thanks to these guys, as they were able to take time to do a
ministry to those in need.
Another spiritual giant has been called home. Dr. Roy Fish
went home to be with the Lord this past Monday. He was
82. I consider it a privilege to have known a man so
dedicated to the Lord and to the field of evangelism. He
was a gifted man who reached many young preachers and
teachers, as he prepared them to go out into the world to
spread the gospel.
It was great to see some of our youth and college and
career young people in the paper this past Sunday helping
out at the Community Seeds of Lone Oak. Thank you to
Kathy and Howard Brooks for their dedication to lead our
college and senior high young people to learn all about
ministry just “across the street”.
If you missed the Bible Study Conference last Monday
night, you missed a blessing. What a challenge was made
to all of us to reach out in our community. Thank you to
Bro. Kelly for organizing this for us.
While talking about thanks, wasn’t it a great time of
blessing last Sunday night when Steve and Wynema led us
out into a wonderful worshipful experience, as the choir
presented their fall/summer concert? The blessing was
beyond words. Remember 55 Plus, the 1st, 2nd and 4th
Wednesday mornings at 10:30 is time for the GloryLand
singers!
55 Plus: also remember when the air turns cooler and the
leaves start falling, you can hear Angela shouting, “Candy,
Candy, Candy!” She needs lots of candy for the Fall
Festival. So grab a bag or two and leave it at the office or
Adult Choir in Concert
Thank you!! Thank you!! Thank you!!
Last Sunday night was an amazing service, and I want to express my appreciation and congratulations to the Adult Choir for a wonderful worship experience.
Every member of the choir, the soloists, the instrumentalists, and our media staff worked together to make the evening an over-the-top success. It is a privilege to work with you.
Keep on keeping on, and don’t forget that Christmas is just around the corner.
Celebration Ringers
Handbells will officially begin their year on Monday, Sept. 24, at 6:00 p.m. in B203. We have a couple of positions that need to be filled this year, and I would love to talk with anyone who might have an interest in ringing with us. Please, feel free to call me at the church office, and I can give you more detailed information.
CenturyMen Tour
I will be out of the office for a week as the CenturyMen tour Georgia and South Carolina.
In addition to the churches where we will present concerts, the group will sing The NATIONAL ANTHEM at the Atlanta Braves baseball game on Friday night, Sept. 14. Then on our last tour day, we will do a program for the staff and employees at the CHICK-FIL-A Corporate Headquarters also in Atlanta.
Wayne Gadman, who was here in July, will direct the music for me on Sept. 16, and I will be back on Sept. 23.
the children’s department. By the way, you can bring a
bag to our 55 Plus Young @ Heart meeting next
Wednesday. We will see that it gets to her (after I have
sampled it).

Fall Festival is underway!
On October 31, join us for a night of “Freedom.” Our goal is to have our church members sign up their car. (We need 65-70 cars). The cars will be parked in a big square. The trunks of each car will be filled with candy. (We will need a lot more candy this year). In the middle of all the cars, we will have a stage with lighting and great sound. We will have a team of hopefully 20 youth/adults to present the “Freedom” drama. This drama is the tool that God has given Awe Star Ministries to further the name of Jesus Christ. We had three of our students participate in this drama in Peru this past summer. Freedom is an 18-minute pantomime, it tells the story of God from creation to the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The drama has no speaking parts. Instead, it comes with a voiceover specific to the location of ministry as well as a musical soundtrack written and performed by Mercy Me. We will perform this drama several times that night. While the drama is being performed the trunks of the cars will be shut. How can you help? Glad you asked.
We need...
Sign up at the children’s table to bring your vehicle (We need 65-70.)
People to sign-up for shifts to sit with the cars
ALL church members donating individually- wrapped candy (start bringing it now- you can drop it off at the church office, or at the children’s table )
People to run the sound system/lights/registration
(Sign up at the children’s table)
Prayer warriors to pray for these events.
Pray for this weekend, as our team will be training for the drama all day Saturday and after church Sunday.

Small Group Leaders Needed for “One Month To Live” Campaign
We are still looking for 15 Host Homes, or for leaders who will assist the Host by leading the discussion after the group watches the video teaching.
Here’s all you need to become a Host Home:
A TV and DVD player, or a laptop that plays DVDs, and a place to watch it in. This could be your home, your office, your gym, who knows be creative!
Willingness to call interested people in your area whose names we will give you, or to invite people in your circle of influence.
Willingness to try leading a discussion, or to share the responsibility with a discussion leader. You don’t have to be a church member to host a group, but you do have to be a church member to lead the discussion.
If you led a small group for 40 Days in the Word, you’ve got just the experience we need.
Sign up on the Host Home Sign-up Card today at the One Month To Live Table, and either drop it in the offering, or take it to the OMTL Table after the service. Host a group and find out first-hand how to “gain a heart of wisdom.”
Too Busy!?
“I’m just too busy,” he said. “I have to take my youngest to soccer practice on Monday and Thursday and my middle son to his out of town practice on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. My daughter has piano every Friday, and we try to support the local teams on Fridays. Saturdays we have to go to actual soccer games and baseball. Not to mention the occasional school events. I have to work in some time to play golf with my buddies on Saturdays very early, and my wife attends an exercise class two evenings a week. We both work to make ends meet, and the evenings when we are not out working, we are making sure the kids get their homework done. So, you see, Sunday is the only day of the week that our family really has together. It is the only day we can sleep in a few minutes extra and have a nice family breakfast and enjoy some time together and, of course, watch the game and spend the evening chillin’ out before it all starts over again. I don’t think God really wants me to neglect my family just to go to church. Do you?”
Does that sound familiar? Have you ever heard that before? Does it feel familiar? Have you ever felt like that before? I have and I think you probably have too. The interesting thing about this kind of lifestyle is that even though it is busy, it is not going anywhere. It is all circular and not really headed in a unified direction for the family. Someone said that if you do not set the agenda for your life, the world will be happy to set it for you. It is easy to find ourselves in a pattern where the expectations of the world have set our agenda. Yet, as Christians, we have to ask ourselves, is that really a biblical lifestyle? We do not want to deny ourselves or our children any of the good things this world has to offer, but are all of these really necessary?
Listen to what the Psalmist said, “Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom” (Psalm 90:12). He prayed that the Lord would help him to “number his days.” When we realize that we only have a certain number of days, we become a little more careful and intentional about how we invest them. In fact, his hope was that by numbering his days, he would “gain a heart of wisdom.” What kind of wisdom? Wisdom that teaches us the most profitable and satisfying ways to spend our days.
Have you “numbered your days?” I don’t mean in some morbid and depressing way. I mean, have you come to the realization that we have an allotted number of days in which to serve God, our families, and our communities? Or, have you been too busy?
Join us for Back to Church Sunday, September 16th. Then sign up for “One Month To Live.” It is a churchwide campaign that helps us all to number our days and live with no regrets.
Yes, we still need host homes for “One Month to Live.” All you need is a place, a DVD player, and a heart to help people grow.
You are loved,
Bro. Kelly
