From the Vicar’s desk “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8 Dearly beloved in Christ, In the month of May church is observing two important Christian festivals. The 5th of May is the day of the feast of Ascension and May 15th is the day of the feast of Pentecost. On the feast of Ascension we meditate on how the risen Christ appeared before his disciples for 40 days and then ascended into the heavens. On the Pentecost day as Jesus promised to his disciples, God sent the Holy Spirit on the 50th day after resurrection. For Christians, Pentecost is when the Holy Spirit descended on the apostles in the upper room and transformed them. They were given the ability to speak the Gospel to all those who were present for the festival. People from different areas were able to understand the gospel in their own language. When the disciples received the power of the Holy Spirit they became witness for Christ to the ends of the earth. As followers of Christ we are called to witness Christ every day in our lives with help of the Holy Spirit. On a different note Sunday, May 8th will be observed as Mother’s Day. “Mother- is the most beautiful word on the lips of mankind” (Khalil Gibran) .Let us thank God for our mothers and for their selfless love and care. We wish God’s blessings and favor on all mothers of our parish. Our Sunday school children are coming to the end of one more academic year. May I request all parents to make sure your kids’ regular participation in Sunday school class and examination. May God shower His abundant Grace and Wisdom up on our children. May the crucified and resurrected Lord be with us in our daily life, in our ministry and in all walks of life. Yours in Christ’s service Rev. Biju P.
