One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked him, "Which is the first of all the commandments?"

Jesus replied, "The first is this: Hear, O Israel!

The Lord our God is Lord alone!

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.

The second is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

There is no other commandment greater than these."

The scribe said to him, "Well said, teacher. You are right in saying,

'He is One and there is no other than he.'

And 'to love him with all your heart, with all your understanding, with all your strength,

and to love your neighbor as yourself' is worth more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices."

And when Jesus saw that he answered with understanding, he said to him,

"You are not far from the kingdom of God."

Church ministry local fundraising - Pierre St. Joseph School Foundation, heard last week

- Rapid City Diocese Annual Appeal, this month

- Rapid City Diocese & Catholic School Capital Campaign: Living the Mission, December - March

This past week, a letter was mailed to your home from Bishop Gruss about the Annual Appeal for the usual operating expenses of our West River Catholic Diocese. Please review the information, pray about your donation, and ask God to guide all of us in Western South Dakota. If you have mailed in the envelope already, thank you. If you wish to bring it with you to mass on the Nov 17/18 weekend, we will have an in-pew request. One great ministry we support together, that no parish can do alone, is forming seminarians.

Adoration in Reparation for clergy abuse Wed. this week 6:30-7:30pm. Bring your rosary. The Knights of Columbus around the US, and our own local council, are praying with bishops and priests, in reparation to God. Supreme Knight Carl Anderson: "We are painfully aware of the wreckage that ensues when elements of this leadership are abdicated by evil actions whether directly perpetrated or covered up. We have an important role to play in rebuilding the Church: to work for repentance, reform and rebuilding of the Church. This is the moment in which Knights, including in a special way our priest members, can be part of a great renewal for good in our Church. And as we strive to follow the Lord more closely in the days ahead, may he deliver us from every evil and in his mercy graciously grant his Church peace and unity."

Pray with Bp. Gruss this week "With brother bishops across the nation, I will be dedicating myself to seven days of intensified prayer and sacrifice, Nov 5-11:

• For the healing and support of all victims of clergy sexual abuse.

• For the conversion and just punishment of the perpetrators and concealers of

sexual abuse.

• For the strength of the bishops in our meeting in Baltimore Nov. 12-14 in to be holy shepherds in protecting and leading their sheep from all harm".
