Hey Cowtown Members, G R E A T S H O W ! ! The 18th Annual Cowtown Mopars Roundup went well. I hope you were able to attend, we had a GREAT time even with a little light rain. The final preparations started a week before the show at Huffines with

21 people at our goody bag stuff'n party. The night before the car show we had more than 12 people moving new cars at Huffines. The day of the show we had a couple of brief moments of rain and we still had a total of 96 entries, COOL HUH? We had a total of 31 B-bodies in the show, COOL HUH? Just think if the weather would have been nice!?! THANKS to everyone who attended and helped out! We could not have done it without you. I can't wait until next year! Staying on the car show theme, we will be taking a group to the Oklahoma clubs show again this year. It is Saturday, June 19th and for all the Cowtown members that attend the club will pay your entry fee to the show. We will also do this for a couple of shows later in the year. Those that want to go as a group, we will meet and go to-gether the day of the show. Let's start planning now. The combined Metroplex Mopar Clubs (Dallas and Cowtown) picnic is coming up soon. The Waco club is also invited and I hope they can attend. It will be Sunday May 16th at River Legacy Park from 9:00 to 3:00. We will have a poker run, lunch, car show and our meeting at the

park. Please bring a covered dish or a dessert to share. The clubs will provide burgers, dogs and drinks. The poker run will start about 10:00 and we will eat around noon. After lunch we will vote on the Mopars in the parking lot and then the clubs will separate and have our monthly meetings. Let's make this our BIGGEST picnic yet. We have completed 2 races so far and it looks like we will get to race at Redline this Sunday. We were 19 points ahead after the first race and we should know the results from Denton soon. The new Huffines grill made it to the Denton race and we cooked 40 burgers and 40 dogs all at once, COOL HUH? Mike Miller and all his helpers did a great job on the grill it looks awesome, cooks good too. Don't forget about the make up race at Ennis May 15th. If you are still in please come back and we will finish the race. They will let the first and second round second place finish-ers return and get a few practice runs. Be sure and bring your ticket stubs. The racers still in will not have to pay, but the others will have to pay a discounted price. If you have any questions please contact Gene or me. One other important race item is, at the long distance races (Noble and Rusk) each racer will receive 4 points for their first pass COOL HUH? We can really get A LOT of points at these 2 races.

GO COWTOWN MOPARS!!!

—– Mark Buchanan, President

Did I mention that I was one of the class winners at Denton??? I also received two Dead-On-Dial decals! It was a good day for the Kelvinator! Mike Miller, Vice-President & Webmaster

The race team is still going strong! Sev-eral winners and a lot of people in the semi's and quarter finals at the Denton TMCCC race. This month we have a lot of members returning to Ennis on the 15th to finish the rained out 2nd race...... good luck to all! Ken and Lesa Key are sending me a lot of info about car shows and cruise nights for the events page. If you don't have anything to do on a Saturday night go have some fun at a cruise! The picnic with the Dallas Mopar Club is going to be on the 16th at River Legacy Park in Arlington. Plans are still in the works and everyone is invited. Please bring a covered dish to share. The clubs are providing the bur-gers and drinks.

April was a busy month with car shows and cruises. The highlight of the month was the annual Cowtown Mopar Round-Up held on the 10th at our spon-sor's location, Huffine's Chrysler-Jeep- and Dodge in Lewisville. Again, the weather factored the attendance, but a good turn-out of different vehicles was present on the show field. From early 20's craftsmanship to late model iron, for-ward-look fins to ground shaking hemi race cars, Huffine's was the place to be for this outstanding exhibition of vehicles. The month of May will be highlighted by the spring meeting/picnic at our usual loca-tion at Legacy Park, Elm Grove Pavilion in Arlington. Info for this and any club event can be found at our website, click on the events page for maps, time, location. We will have as our guests at the spring meeting/picnic our neighbors from the Dallas

MoPar Club. It should be a fine day of food and fellowship, as well as an awesome dis-play of fine cars and trucks. I had the privilege of attending the Dallas MoPar Club general membership meeting on the 18th. As different as each end of the Metroplex is and as different as each club is, it was amazing to see how similar these clubs

actually are. Both Presidents Mark Buchannan and Brad Buttermore emphasize three basic beliefs in leading their respective organizations 1. Increase membership 2. Become more active both outside and inside your club. and finally, 3. Make sure your cruise night is a positive activity for your club. Some fruits of thought. See y’all at the picnic on May 16th. WELCOME RACE FANS

As I am writing this column, it is Friday afternoon before our race at Redline Raceway. Judging from the calls and team members visiting at my shop, morale seems high and a lot of folks are preparing their rides for Sunday's event. If you haven't been to a race with us, you and your family are missing out on some fun Sunday outings. Turn off the T.V. and come join us. This will get to you too late for the Redline race, so you will miss out on the brisket and beans (Thanks Heather and Kelly), pecan pie, and our usual goodies. Next race is at Thunder Valley Raceway on June 6th. It is just south of Norman Okla. Gates open at 9:00 a.m. A lot of our racers are going to meet at the Loves Convenience Store/ Truck stop on the Milam exit just north of Denton. We are going to leave at 6:00 a.m. sharp so don't be late. The Central Oklahoma Mopar Club will join us at the track. The last two years their club has treated us great and we welcome their support. On the way home from Oklahoma, some of us are planning on stopping at McGee's Catfish Restaurant a little west of I-35. It's great catfish served family style ( they keep bringing the fish till you give up). Some of the other clubs that we race against have shown interest in joining us. at McGee's. I will make a announcement at Thunder Valley to anyone that cares to dine with us. We are currently leading the points race but still need more club support. Bring cookies, pie, cake, or just show up. Keep the shiny side up, see you soon. For directions, advice on accommodations, etc. call me at 817-838-6933. Thanks for your support and See you at the races!!! Tap on the shoulder A passenger in a taxi leaned over to ask the driver a question and tapped him on the shoul-der. The driver screamed, lost control of the cab, nearly hit a bus, drove up over the curb, and stopped just inches from a large plate glass window. For a few moments everything was silent in the cab. Then the still shaking driver said, "I'm sorry, but you scared the daylights out of me." The frightened passenger apologized to the driver and said he didn't realize a mere tap on the shoulder could frighten him so much. The driver replied, "No, no, I'm sorry, it's all my fault. Today is my first day driving a cab... for the last 25 years I've been driving a hearse. Worth a second look ladies One day my housework-challenged husband decided to wash his sweatshirt. Seconds after he stepped into the laundry room, he shouted to me, "What setting do I use on the washing machine?" "It depends," I replied. "What does it say on your shirt?" He yelled back, "University of Oklahoma." And they say blondes are dumb... - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Q: What do you call an intelligent, good look-ing, sensitive man? A: A rumor A WOMAN'S PERFECT BREAKFAST: She's sitting at the table with her gourmet coffee. Her son is on the cover of the Wheaties box. Her daughter is on the cover of Business Week. Her boyfriend is on the cover of Playgirl. And her husband is on the back of the milk carton

I have dreamed of having this car for many years. My dad had purchased two of these in 1970, one for his dad, and one for himself. My dad’s car was a purple R/T 4-speed with a white vinyl top and white interior. It was totaled before I was old enough to admire it and only had pictures of it to look at when I got older. My wife Donna and I had gone and looked at a few 70 Chargers before she found this one on the internet. It was located in Ocala Florida. I got up early one morning and flew to Florida, rented a car and drove for three hours to see it. The car was fairly complete with a few extra coats of paint and 83,000 original miles on it. I purchased the car in May of 1999 and had it delivered to Lewisville, TX. After a few years of work and building a couple of other people’s cars to help fund this project, It is finally ready to come out and play. The car is about 90% correct numbers matching. After all of the time and money spent on this car I do not use the term “restore” loosely. Although this has been a fun project, I can see why it cost a lot of money, and I still have a ways to go before the nationals!
