Our Lenten Fish Fry is held every Friday during Great Lent from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Please invite your family and friends to join us for a delicious dinner. Volunteers are needed. For more information, please contact Mrs. Mary Ann Sklaryk or Mr. Serhij Nahornyj.

* * * * * * * Please remember our sick and elderly parishioners in your prayers. Also, the clergy

request that they be notified when parishioners are admitted to and/or discharged from the hospital and transferred to a nursing home and if a home visit is desired.

* * * * * * * Please note that at 6:00 p.m. every Wednesday evening during Great Lent, the Liturgy

of Pre-Sanctified Gifts will be served. Confession will be at 5:30 p.m. Also remember that, if you are going to receive Holy Communion, you must fast from food and water from 12:00 noon. As always, those who take medication and require food and water are exempt from the fast. If you have any questions, please contact Fr. John or Fr. Michael.

* * * * * * * During the 5 Sundays of Great Lent, the Liturgy of St. Basil the Great will be served.

The noticeable difference from the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom is the longer prayers that are recited by the clergy.

* * * * * * * Now that Great Lent has begun, our Pyrohy Group will be making pyrohy every week.

Please check the Calendar of Events for the schedule and please volunteer to help. * * * * * * *

Parishioners who, because of age or illness, are unable to come to Liturgy for Confession & Communion are requested to call our clergy to make arrangements for a home visit. Please do this before the last week of Lent, when the clergy are preparing for the many Holy Week Services.

* * * * * * * We most sincerely thank our Senior U.O.L. Chapter for the gift of the pamphlet “48

Days to the Great Day” that was distributed to our parishioners in church. May these daily Lenten readings be an uplifting aid to us in our Lenten journey to Pascha. Although all the books have been distributed, if you did not receive one and would like to, please contact Fr. John.

an afternoon honoring the memory of Ukraine’s National Bard, Artist and Humanist Taras Shevchenko (1814-1861). The Shevchenko Celebration Program will be held at 3:30 p.m. today at Pokrova Church Hall on Broadview Road. Local Ukrainian youth organizations will participate. This unified annual program started in 1957 and is in its 61st year.

He labored in our parish with love and dedication to our parishioners for 7 years, as assistant pastor. May Our Lord grant to His faithful servant, Fr. John, eternal rest in the Mansions of the Just and may his memory be eternal!

Vichnaya Pamyat!

Our prayers and condolences are offered to the family of Fr. Michael Poloway, who entered into eternity on Sunday, March 4th, at the age of 90, following a lengthy and difficult illness. Fr. Michael was a Ukrainian Catholic priest who moved to Parma to live in and minister to the elderly residents of Shevchenko Manor when he retired as pastor in Pittsburgh.

Fr. Michael was admired by all for his humility, compassion and humor. He visited with us at St. Vladimir on various occasions, health permitting. We, in turn, always mentioned his name at Liturgy and visited with him until his passing at a local nursing home. Funeral services were held on Friday from St. Andrew Ukrainian Catholic Church. May Our Lord grant His faithful servant, Fr. Michael, a blessed and eternal rest.

A beautiful tradition in our Ukrainian Orthodox Church is for the faithful to make donations for the purchase of Easter flowers that will adorn Christ’s Tomb on Good Friday and Easter Sunday – Pascha. In keeping with this tradition, Mrs. Vera Malysz, Mrs. Lydia Schkurko and Mr. Serhyj Nahornyj will be collecting donations in the vestibule for the next couple Sundays. Help us fill the church with flowers by making generous donations.
