pledge, we will increase our monthly contribution to $200 from $175 beginning this month. (God bless your generosity)
Thank you for your sacrifice of Tithing!
MASS ATTENDANCE
Mass attendance for January 30/31: 1841
LENT 2016 BEGINS NOW – THIS WEEK
ASH WEDNESDAY – FEBRUARY 10 AND MORE This Wednesday, February 10th is Ash Wednesday. We will celebrate Mass in Church and distribute Ashes at 6:45 AM, 8:00 AM, 12:00 PM and 7:00 PM. We will have a 4:00 PM Service in the Church with distribution of Ashes. This Service is NOT a Mass. Besides our morning daily Masses at 6:45 and 8:00 AM, Monday to Friday, we will celebrate an evening Mass for Lent at 7:00 PM
Monday through Friday as well. We encourage your attendance. Also on the Fridays of Lent, we will offer the Stations of the Cross in Church at 7:30 PM in English and 8:15 PM in Spanish. On Monday evenings for Lent we offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Confession, from 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM in Church. Confessions are offered in all the parishes of the Diocese on these Lenten Monday evenings in case another parish is more convenient for you on the Mondays of Lent.
FASTING AND ABSTINENCE DURING LENT Catholics between the ages of 14 and 59 are obliged to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. In addition, all Catholics 14 years old and older must abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday and all the Fridays of Lent. Fasting as explained by the U.S. bishops means partaking of only one full meal. Some food (not equaling another full meal) is permitted at
breakfast and around midday or in the evening—depending on when a person chooses to eat the main or full meal. Abstinence forbids the use of meat, but not of eggs, milk products or condiments made of animal fat.

7:00 PM MASS
THE FEAST OF OUR LADY OF LOURDES
HONORING HEALTHCARE PERSONNEL
AND THE SICK On the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, Thursday evening, February 11th at 7:00 PM in Church, we will
offer a Mass in Thanksgiving for our Shrine. The Church designates February 11 as World Day of the Sick. Thus we especially encourage all our parishioners who work with and serve the sick to attend this Mass. We ask doctors, nurses, medical technicians, hospital and doctors’
office personnel and volunteers, pharmacists, nursing home and assisted living center staff and volunteers and all who bring Holy Communion to the sick to come on February 11. At this Mass we will invite you to rededicate your life saving work of healing to Christ through Our Lady of Lourdes. The sick and your caregivers are especially invited to this Mass as well. Everyone present will join with you to celebrate this Mass as “a special time of prayer and sharing, of offering one’s suffering for the good of the Church and reminding us to see in our sick brothers
and sisters the face of Christ who, by suffering, dying and rising, achieved the salvation of humankind”. These words of Saint John Paul II give us the spiritual theme for this Mass for the Sick and for all of us who serve the sick. Please mark your calendars for this Thursday, February 11th at 7:00 PM.

ADULT FAITH FORMATION – ON LINE -
YOUR PERSONAL LENTEN FAITH FORMATION Lent is just around the corner! Lent starts very early this year – Ash Wednesday is February 10th. When we think about Lent, many of us ponder, “What should I do for Lent this Year? What should I give up?” What if I told you, “Don’t
give up chocolate, desserts or some other favorite food. Instead,
do something more permanent – do something life-changing!” Lent isn’t just about giving up something; it’s about transforming of our lives to become a better person and to build a better relationship with the Lord. This Lent you can participate in a program called “THE BEST
LENT EVER”, from Dynamic Catholic. Each day during Lent, you
will receive an inspirational email with a short video showing simple ways to bring Jesus into your everyday life. And the best part of the program is that it is FREE – all you have to do is sign up at DynamicCatholic.com/Lent. Do something life-changing this Lent. Take this 40-day spiritual journey to encounter Jesus and yourself. Participate in “THE BEST
LENT EVER.”

LENTEN PRAYER
Dear Lord, As I make my Lenten Journey with you, send me

You and serve You better. Let me be renewed through my
journey to share Your grace with the world. Amen
HOLY YEAR OF MERCY – RANDOM ACTS OF
MERCY & KINDNESS DURING LENT
Our Holy Father, Pope Francis, has asked us to become more
aware of the many small and sometimes unnoticed
opportunities we have to extend kindness and mercy to
others… walking the extra mile… going out of our way. This can begin with our family, friends, neighborhood and beyond.
Each weekend during Lent before Mass, a basket and
notebook paper will be on a table as you enter church.
Take a minute to briefly jot down a Random Act of
Kindness/Mercy you have done or received and place it in
the basket. You may also write your Random Act of
Kindness at home on a 3 x 3 paper and bring it to church.
When the gifts of Bread and Wine are brought to the altar,
our acts of Mercy and Kindness will accompany them. This
is a beautiful way to keep focused on Jesus all during Lent,
and serve as a reminder that He is always in our midst in the
presence of others.
WOMEN’S DAY OF REFLECTION – FEBRUARY 20 Saint Peter’s Rosary/Altar Society will be hosting a Women’s
Day of Reflection on February 20, 2016. The speaker will be
Bud MacFarlane, M.I. The program will begin with Mass at 8
AM in Our Lady’s Chapel. Please contact Liz Dennis for
reservations at 973-334-4091. A continental breakfast will be
served.
