In October, we assisted

35 families with a total of

72 children under the age of 18,

for a total of $12,690.45

Since January 2017 We have assisted 443 families with a total of 973 children

under the age of 18. $173,231.69 has been distributed from

the Family Resource Center grant to assist families with utility

deposits and payments, rental deposits and payments and

temporary emergency housing.

SEARCH COMMITTEE

The Vestry and Search Committee met with

Bishop Seage during his visit to All Saints’ on

November 5 and it was decided to amend the

Priest-In-Charge search process to a full

Rector search. The survey and parish profile

have been completed and we are in a good

position to move forward with the full Rector

search. The full Rector search allows us to

tap into other resources that are available to

find the best possible candidates.

The Search Committee has gathered

additional names of potential candidates for

Rector and the interviews will begin after the

first of the year.

Thank you for your continued prayers and

support during this time of transition.

Saints’ Brew Christmas Dinner

Sunday, December 17

5:30 p.m.

To volunteer to help, look for the

sign-up sheets located in the

church on Sundays and in the office

during the week. We need people

to help cook, set up, and clean up

on the night of the dinner. We are also collecting

donations of blankets and throws as gifts for our guests.

Donation bins are located in the Parish Hall lobby. We

expect to offer gifts to about 100 individuals.

Shepherd’s Center is a group of adults dedicated to offering transportation, minor home repairs, and social gatherings to senior adults. The meetings, open to all, begin with refreshments at 9:00 a.m., followed by the program. All Saints’ will host the meeting on December 14. Volunteers are needed to provide refreshments and help with hosting. A sign-up sheet is located in

the church or you may contact the office, Betty Lee Marshall or Martha Ann Staub to volunteer. The Shepherd’s Center is also in need of volunteer drivers. The Center will provide insurance for drivers/riders and schedule the rides. In 2016, the Center provided 1,285 rides in Tupelo, Pontotoc and Saltillo. For more information visit www.sctupelo.org.

As our college

students move closer

to exam time, we’d

like for them to know

we support them and

are thinking about them! Our committee will send a

small box of little surprises with a note from the

Parish wishing them good luck on their exams and

to let them know that we will be praying for them

during this phase of their life.

If you would like for your college student to

receive a “care box”, please let us know their name,

mailing address at school and their expected

month/year of graduation. You can email the info

to [email protected], call the office at

842-4386 or contact Virginia Chambers.

Our Saints’ Brew ministry celebrated 10 years of service on November 3,

with an Open House and breakfast for our guests and supporters. Many

supporters from the broader community attended the event. Our thanks

to Mona Warlick and her team of volunteers who planned and worked

this wonderful event!

All Saints’ would like to add a special note of thanks to

Mona Warlick for her years of dedicated service as

coordinator of Saints’ Brew. Mona has served in this

capacity since 2013. She has coordinated the day to day

operations of this ministry, as well as completing grant

paperwork to continue as a United Way agency, researching Food Banks

and other grant opportunities, working with MUTEH (Mississippi United

To End Homelessness), completing outtakes for MUTEH, managing the

budget, and organizing and recruiting volunteers. Over the years, she

has widened the scope of Saints’ Brew to offer more services to our

guests in addition to a daily hot meal. Mona retired from this position

earlier this month. The impact she has made in this ministry and the

wider community will be felt for years to come and her talents will surely

be missed!

The Vestry has formed a task force, naming Albert White as the chair, to

envision the future of Saints’ Brew over the next decade. The Task Force

will also coordinate the immediate operations of Saints’ Brew as we

continue to serve those in need.

Serving a full, hot

Since 2010,

we have served

143,324 meals

Advent Day of Reflection

Wednesday, December 6 Benedictine Sisters Retreat Center

Cullman, Alabama

The season of Advent speaks to the heart's

longing to birth new life. This day will offer the

opportunity to ponder your heart's longing for

God in the context of the scripture readings for

the Sundays of Advent. The retreat will be led by

Sister Kathleen Gallas. The cost is $30, with

scholarships available. We will meet at the church

at 6:15 a.m. to carpool and will return to the

church by 5:30 p.m. The retreat is open to all. To

register contact Joellen Murphree.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

and youth Sunday School will not

meet on Sundays, December 17,

24, & 31. We will resume our

studies on January 7.

The Sunday Lectionary class will

continue to meet at 9:30 a.m. in

the south breakout room of the

Parish Hall.

CHRISTIAN FORMATION

Level I (age 3 – Kindergarten) During Advent, the children will explore God’s plan in choosing

Mary to be the mother of Jesus, understanding that she is

blessed among women as is the fruit of her womb. Through

the Holy Spirit, Elizabeth and her baby recognized God’s

presence in Mary and how she gave the glory to God for the

gift of being his servant and rejoiced in this honor. They will

also explore that with the birth of Jesus, God’s slow and careful

plan for incarnation reaches fruition, while the angels share

the greatest of news, intended for all people, with shepherds,

the lowliest of men.

Level II (1st – 3rd grades) As we move through Advent, the children will focus on the

Infancy Narratives, which invite a closer look to search for the

“golden thread” of the incarnation themes, which binds them

together. The narratives are rich theological tapestries which

invite us to discover and rejoice in a unique way and further

enhance the child’s participation in the church’s celebration of

Advent, Christmas and Epiphany.

Level III (4th – 6th grades) The focus for this level is the Plan of God as worked out in the

Bible and human history. The children explore the growth of

the Kingdom of God and people’s collaboration with or

opposition to it. The Paradigm of Creation-Redemption-

Parousia guides a more thorough exploration of scripture,

particularly the Old Testament.
