V
Sunshine Coast Stadium
From the Managing Director
A warm welcome to all supporters and players to the Sunshine Coast Stadium for another great day of
football.
Today the Under 18 boys kick off the day at 12.00pm against Western Pride. Last time these two teams
met Fire came out as the resounding winners and I have no doubt Western Pride will be looking for a
turn around on that result. The Fire Under 18s have been performing strongly in the last few weeks so
success in this game would help to cement their position in the top three on the ladder.
The Senior Men kick off at 2.00pm also against Western Pride. The Fire are undoubtedly starting as the
underdogs in this match but if the team can repeat the form of last week against Redlands United then
they certainly have a prospect of being able to snatch a win. The Senior team will again rely heavily on
the outstanding young talent coming through the ranks of our club at the current time.
I wish both teams the best of luck.
GO THE FIRE!!
Warm regards,
Noel Woodall

From the Technical Director of Coaching
Good afternoon and welcome to our visitors from Western Pride. After a very encouraging performance
last week against a very strong Redlands team, we are looking to take that into this fixture and hopefully
turn the corner and get back to winning ways. Having Cameron Nairn, Jordan Irwin & Rhyan Scriggins
making their home debuts and putting in a very convincing performance.
Away from game action we are very pleased to announce the launch of our goalkeeping academy this
week which will be headed up by Academy Director & Head of Goalkeeping Ashley Kingdon, Ashley has
been on board now for 3 weeks having held similar positions in the UK for EPL team West Bromwich
Albion and Championship outfit Birmingham City. Please see our website for full details.
I would also like to thank the supporters who turned out in numbers for last week’s fixture, and we look
forward to seeing and hearing you drive the boys on again today.
I look forward to seeing you all.
Melvyn Wilkes
Technical Director of Coaching
Sunshine Coast FC
From the Senior Men’s Coach
Today's game against Western Pride is our second game against
them in three weeks and I'm hoping for a better performance and
result this time around. On last week’s showing we certainly have a
good chance of doing that. The boys showed great heart and attitude
and we were very proud of their efforts and definitely deserved at
least at point out of it. Lets get behind the boys and hopefully we will
get the win everybody is looking for.

From the Under 18 Boys Coach
We would like to welcome Western Pride to the Sunshine Coast
Stadium today. Our boys have had a good run for the last few weeks
and will be looking to add Western Pride to the list.
We played each other two weeks ago in Ipswich and the result was a
6-1 win. Western Pride have yet to win a game this season but have
been a tough opposition to crack in our previous fixtures. I hope both
teams play an entertaining brand of football and the supporters
enjoy the game.

Ashley Kingdon to lead SAP Program
Sunshine Coast FC’s recently
announced Skills Acquisition Program
(SAP) will be headed up by former
English Premier League youth coach
Ashley Kingdon.
Kingdon, who has previously coached
at three English Premier League
clubs, credited Sunshine Coast FC’s
philosophy and drive as the main
reason for him to come on as the
SAP Coordinator.
“I was impressed by how
professionally the club is being run
and the potential it has to push on and become an established force in Australian football,”
Kingdon said.
“I spent a weekend on the Sunshine Coast to have a tour around the Fire’s stadium and training
facilities, that made it a no-brainer and I really wanted to be a part of the club.”
Kingdon also expressed his excitement for the future of the SAP program and youth development
at Sunshine Coast FC.
“I have already sat down with the Technical Director, Melvyn Wilkes and started planning how we
want to run SAP,” he said.
“Working through the Football Federation Australia Skill Acquisition Program curriculum, all
players male and female, will receive the highest standard practical coaching program.”
Sunshine Coast FC Technical Director Melvyn Wilkes thinks Kingdon’s youth coaching and
goalkeeping experience will bring a different dynamic to the coaching structure.
“Ashley has a very forward –thinking approach to coaching and will use his goalkeeping
experience to add something unique to the program,” Wilkes said.
Sunshine Coast FC recently held trials for the program in which 36 trialists were successful.

Josh Wall selected for U17 National Camp
Sunshine Coast FC Under 16 Boys
goalkeeper Josh Wall is yet another
Fire player to be invited to train and
play on a representative team in the
last month.
Wall has been invited by Football
Federation Australia (FFA) to the
Australian National U17 Team
(Joeys) Training Camp.
Wall is one of 13 players in 3
countries to receive the invitation to
the training camp from FFA.
“I’m really excited to be given such a
great opportunity and I’m looking
forward to being able to test myself against such skilled players,” Wall said.
The training camp, which takes place from 16 to 19 June at the Australian Institute of Sport in
Canberra, is in preparation for the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in October.
If selected for the Joeys squad, Wall will make his way with the team to compete in the 2015
FIFA U-17 World Cup in Santiago, Chile.
Sunshine Coast FC Under 16’s coach Justin Mayes was thrilled to hear that Josh had been
invited to train with the U17 national team.
“Josh consistently performs well, works hard behind the scenes and his technical abilities shine
through, it’s nice to see him be rewarded for his efforts,” said Mayes.
“Josh is a natural leader, something I believe any goal keeper must possess to achieve at the
highest level and I’m sure he will be one to look out for in the future.”
Chile will mark the 12th time Australia has participated in the FIFA U-17 World Cup, previously
placing 15th in 2011.
