An 11-year-old Roch-ester, Minnesota, boy wasairlifted from the LowerKeys to a Miami-Dadehospital Tuesday morningafter diving, police said.
The boy was diving in 20feet of water with his fam-ily and a divemaster with acommercial dive boat out
of Captain Hook’s Marinaand Dive Center, at LooeKey off Ramrod Key, ac-cording to the MonroeCounty Sheriff’s Office.
They were in the waterabout 35 minutes, the sher-iff’s office said.
Everyone surfaced, butthe boy began convulsing,said Adam Linhardt, aspokesman for the sheriff’soffice.
“He was conscious and
breathing,” Linhardt said.The sheriff’s office was
notified at about 10:49a.m.
The boy was airlifted byTrauma Star to NicklausChildren’s Hospital nearSouth Miami. On Wednes-day, the sheriff’s officereported the boy was instable condition and isexpected to recover.
