WHY

SOLAR ENERGY - a treasure that can be harnessed to compensate the hazards manifested by non – renewable & Conventional sources of energy.

BENEFITS Sun, the biggest natural power plant, is potentially the most reliable energy source! And India is fortunate enough to receive sunlight in abundance to make solar energy as one of the major economy boosters.

ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS a) Never – ending, Non-polluting renewable source of energy b) Available during most part of the day in abundance, and the energy can be stored for later use. c) Cleaner alternative to Diesel, Coal, Thermal & Kerosene d) Contributes indirectly to tackle the problem of global warming and climatic changes as every solar system saves some amount of CO2 emission, which otherwise would have resulted from conventional resources.

ECONOMIC BENEFITS a) Various attractive policies and incentives on Solar System

installation by Central Govt., State govt. and State Nodal agencies.

b) Panel life of 25 years, and ROI in < 5 Years, after which the generated Electricity is almost free!

c) 80% Accelerated Tax Depreciation in the first year itself d) REC (Renewable Energy Certificate) trade at Power Exchange. e) Minimal O & M expenses of the plant

MERITS OF SOLAR ROOFTOP: • Good reductions & savings in energy costs. • Helps fulfill Solar Purchase Obligation • Net – metering or FiT (feed-in-tarrif) for excess solar generation*

*Depends on state policies. Not applicable for every city/state

• No extra land requirement. • Seamless integration with existing source of power supply. • Very low cost of Operation and Maintenance (O&M) • Reduces reliance on power grid • Long – term energy security compared to Diesel gensets.

For Consumers For DISCOM For Government

• Save on Electricity costs

• Hedge against increasing Electricity and Diesel Tariffs.

• Additional income from power generation or Rooftop Leasing

• Security through localized generation

• Contribution to CSR • Fulfillment of Solar

Purchase Obligation

• New Business models & opportunities

• Better Load management Grid Stabilization

• Energy Security • Low and stable

power cuts. • Job opportunities • Green leadership,

Innovation and New Technology push

SOLAR ROOFTOP SOLUTIONS

ON-GRID / GRID-TIED / GRID CONNECTED SYSTEMS • Mostly used in utility scale projects to supply electricity to the grid/DISCOM at

pre-determined tariffs. • Most suitable for areas where there are no or less power cuts and the customer

pays high electricity tariffs. • Can also be used for captive consumption. Depending on state solar policy, excess

generated electricity can be given back to the grid and the customer can be eligible for Net – Metering or FiT (Feed-in-Tariff).

• Can be easily synchronized with Diesel gensets to reduce the overall cost of electricity/unit.

• Allows system to avoid storage (batteries), which has a huge cost. • Can help people save huge costs and generate some extra income.

SOLAR GRID SOLAR GRID Diesel Genset

OFF-GRID or STANDALONE SYSTEMS • A battery bank is set up which stores excess energy and can be used later

when required. • Such systems have an application in areas which do not have access to grid at

all or have very limited access to grid. • They also have an application in areas which can't afford power loss at all (Like:

Hospitals, IT companies, Telecom towers etc.) • Cost saving is not an advantage in such system because batteries have regular

maintenance and recurring costs.
