2.1 Regions For administrative purposes and by taking into consideration specific geopolitical parameters, the country is

divided into 8 regions:

1. BA-xxx Bratislavský 2. TT-xxx Trnavský 3. TN-xxx Trenčiansky 4. NR-xxx Nitriansky 5. ZA-xxx Žilinský

6. BB-xxx Banskobystrický 7. PO-xxx Prešovský 8. KE-xxx Košický

All regions have the same points rationing scheme.To qualify for a summit it has to meet the following

requirements:

● The summit must be listed in the hiking map 1:50 000 with a corresponding name or spot height ● The summit must be elevated at least 150 m from it’s surroundings ● In the case of doubt the Management Team will decide whether the Summit will be added to the list

The summit database does not claim to be completed and can only be changed by the acceptance of the

management team. Summits cannot be counted for points until a reference number has been allocated by the

association manager and a valid from date assigned by the Management Team.

2.2 Maps The coordinates and elevations in the following list correspond with the maps http:/mapy.hiking.sk scale 1:50

000. All maps are available on paper or digital format. For convenience all the coordinates are referenced in

WGS84.

2.3 Access to summit Some of the peaks are included in the Nature Conservation and Landscape Protection of Slovakia. In this area

they can validly restrict the walk to the summit. For details see on their website

http://www.minzp.sk/dokumenty/legislativa/zakony-pravne-predpisy/Slovakia/ochrana-prirody-krajiny/ Some of the peaks in Slovakia are occupied by military training areas or communications bases. Don't enter these

areas. Prior to the activation of a new summit the activators have to gather sufficient information concerning the

bases. If you want to activate peaks in this area you must contact the management of five military

regions, and ask them for permission. See the website of the Ministry of Defence.

2.4 Award program Award program introduction is in progress.

2.5 Safety & Disclaimer

Hiking, mountain and rock climbing are potentionally dangerous activities. The SOTA management team

and their associates assume no responsibility for accidents. Every SOTA participant does so at his own

risk and responsibility. Every SOTA participant must decide for himself, if he has the necessary ability to reach

his destination. He must check the difficulty level of the tour before starting out. The listing of a summit in the

reference does not mean that it is easy to reach.

For your safety and that of other members of your party, please observe the following simple rules:

● Never hike alone. ● Always inform someone who is not hiking with you where you are going, what route you are using,

what time you expect to return and whom they should contact if you do not return. ● Obtain a detailed route map or description before attempting a new route. If possible consult an

experienced local climber about your proposed route. ● Always carry overnight and cold-weather gear no matter how warm and sunny it is when you start out. ● Ensure that you have a suitably equipped first-aid kit and sufficient knowledge to use it. ● Always carry a mobile phone if you are in an area that has coverage. Find out the telephone number of

the local mountain rescue service, if there is one; otherwise report any emergency phone 112. ● Do not descend by a different route from the route used during your ascent unless you are

absolutely certain that the route to be used for the descent is passable. ● Ensure that you are medically fit for your intended outing. If in doubt, consult your physician. ● Wear suitable clothing including appropriate climbing shoes or hiking boots. Ensure that you

have sufficient drinking water and protection from the sun. ● Always carry a map, compass – and know how to use them. A GPS and spare batteries is a useful

accessory.
