Calling all campers 3 – 6 years old!! Come and join the fun at SummerFun. Each week is centered on a different theme that provides the backdrop for daily camp activities designed just for you! Inside, we sing, dance, share stories, play, build, paint and work on special projects. Outside, we have swimming lessons in our pool, take walks to the pond, hike in the woods, play on the playground, fill the sky with bubbles and run through the sprinkler.

Underwater AdventuresWeeks 1 & 2: June 26 - July 7 (no camp on July 4th)Leaders: Jamie McClelland & Rachel O’ConnellHere, children will look at the tiniest water dwellers and life in our own ponds and streams, as well as some of the largest (and brightest) creatures of the ocean. We will explore fish in our own classroom, as well as take trips to the pond to observe aquatic animals firsthand.

Cooking and GardeningWeeks 3 & 4: July 10 - July 21 Leaders: Jamie McClelland & Rachel O’ConnellSeeds in the soil, grow, grow, grow! We begin with sprouting seeds, and preparing/taking care of a small garden. Because it will be a challenge to grow our own usable food in one week, we will be using local veggies and ingredients for cooking and baking projects as well. Children will chop, mix and prepare food for snack and to share! The session will include a handmade cookbook for children to take home and remake their favorite recipes.

Around the WorldWeek 5: July 24 - July 28 Leaders: Jamie McClelland & Rachel O’ConnellGet ready to travel over lakes, mountains, forests, deserts, and oceans to explore our earth. What kinds of land and water forms are there? What languages are spoken around the world? What similarities and differences can we see between ourselves and children in other countries? Questions such as these will guide our quick journey around the world.

Ages 9-12Everything ChocolateWeek 1/ June 26-30Leader: Joanna Wilson PhillipsFrom raw cacao to dutch cocoa, we will explore everything chocolate from around the world. Beyond the traditional desserts and breakfast treats, we’ll cook up creations that pair chocolate with fruits and vegetables (and maybe even meat!) and talk to local experts who have made careers out of working with chocolate. At the end of the class, students will take home a recipe book and certificate of completion. We hope you can join us for this crash course in Everything Chocolate!

Soccer Week 2/ July 3-7 (no camp on July 4th)Leader: Andre SilbermanFive days of soccer fun that will work on ball mastery, individual skills, decision-making and teamwork. Painting Our Story: A Mural ProjectWeek 3/July 10-14Leader: Kegan RefaloWe will explore the work of mural artists as community storytellers as we dream up a mural that captures Our Story. Campers will be engaged in the design process from sketches to paint on the wall. Drawing and painting skills will be strengthened with mini lessons on color, shape, texture, balance and scale. The finished mural will be installed outside in Hilltop’s playground area. There is a real possibility that students will get some paint on their clothes; please ask them to dress appropriately.

EngineeringWeek 4/July 17-21Leader: Siza MtimbiriUsing a hand-on curriculum, students will learn aspects of engineering while creating their own designs. Amongst other things, they will learn how knowledge of the body helps engineers to design products for the body. Other materials will be availed for them to use their imagination to design something that could be used to support or enhance the body.
