Pre-Course Checklist – MUST DO!

• Course Content: Check for broken links and inaccurate content. Submit help tickets with detailed information, including course number and link location.– Check all of your course sessions before

the course starts.

Pre-course ChecklistVerify the following as soon as you get your course:

• Discussion Board: Make sure the topics match the content. Submit a help ticket if you add or modify a topic so we can change the master copy of the course.

• Add session dates to each fourm to help learners keep track of their assignments each week.

• Dropbox: Make sure these match up to content submissions and are linked to gradebook items.

• Gradebook: Make sure it matches the Assignment Checklist

• Add a “Welcome” announcement.– Add graphics to announcement and discussion boards to

“humanize” the course.– Once you post an announcement it will automatically send to

your learners.

• Create an “Emails from Your Facilitator” forum on the discussion board to post all of your group emails sent.

• Use the Facilitator Information section to highlight important weekly events.

• Use a web 2.0 tool (wordle, voki, screencast) to introduce yourself and/or the course.

On-going Course Management• Look Ahead at the Final Project; make mention of the

requirements during week 1 or 2

• Check Manage Section page to see if your course list has changed - learners added or dropped.

• Create and post landscape posts in each discussion board forum.

• Post weekly feedback within the course dropbox and/or gradebook by the 4th day of the week’s end.

• Send weekly e-mails to all learners and mid week reminders, if needed.

On-going Course Management

• “Meet and Greet” your learners in the Virtual Café

• Post weekly schedule on the announcement page.

• Answer all questions within 24 hours.• Send private emails to learners to

encourage participate and guidance.• Call learners on day 4-5 if they haven’t

checked in.

Manage Section Page• Login to TeacherLine, click My Courses, Facilitator

Tools, Manage Course button.

• Locate your official learner list, e-mail addresses and phone numbers.

• Check pending reservations.

• Check for dropped/withdrawn learners (you will not receive notification e-mails).

• NOTE: Do NOT use “Participants” list to send course emails until after the 8th day of the course.

4th of JulyLet’s be flexible for learners who are away for the holiday weekend. •Suggestions-

– Allow learner to submit weekly assignment early.

– Allow learner post early and late on the discussion board.

•NOTE: Require learners to give you advance notice.

Final Projects

Please notify learners early in the term if the final project needs access to students.

If a learner isn’t currently teaching, here are a few options-•Work with a group of neighborhood students•Have a colleague provide feedback on the project
