TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

• TRAINING is the act of increasing the knowledge and skills of an employee for doing a particular job.

• DEVELOPMENT is a continuous process of building competencies of employees and thus facilitating overall development of employees. It involves acquiring not only technical skills, but also problem solving and decision making skills.

Induction/ Orientation Training

Soft Skill Development Training- Personality and positive attitude, Business communication, Team building and leadership, Stress management and work-life balance, Business etiquettes and corporate grooming.

OBJECTIVES

To study the importance of training and development.

To study the different types of methods/techniques used to evaluate the training.

To study the relevance of the post training evaluation/ feedback for the employee as well as for an organization.

FINDINGS

75% respondents said that training is beneficial for enhancement of knowledge , skill and attitude.

55% respondents are strongly agree that training is must for enhancing the performance.

All the respondents have attended training program in last 1 year and all of them had given feedback of it.

Questionnaire is the most popular mean of evaluating the training program in BSNL.

FINDINGS

Most of the respondents , i.e. , 65% agreed that post training evaluation procedure should reviewed and revised periodically.

45% respondents said that training should be evaluated immediately after training.

SUGGESTIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Skill based training should also be provided.Besides questionnaire other methods of post training

evaluation should also be used like interviews, supplement test , observation etc.

Post training feedback has to be continuous and should also be taken from superiors and from peers to find out the effectiveness and valuation of training.

LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

The study is limited to the Corporate HR,BSNL. So the study is subject to the limitation of area.

The time period of the study was minimum. Sampling size was of only 20 employees because

only these people had attended soft skill development training.

Corporate HR,BSNL only provides soft skill development training , not technical skill training.

CONCLUSION

Training initiatives and program have become a priority for Human Resources .

The employees attended training program of the company ,also benefited by it in terms that their performance increased.

It provides feedback and helps in the strategy formulation for training and development.
