As the first note for this season’s lookbook, we’d like to start with a thank you. Thank you to our clients, loyal followers, and newcomers who are reading this—we welcome all of you to our summer lookbook 2019. We are excited to present this season’s seven themes in line with our motto “everything under one roof.” Resonating to the core of Agora, we invite you to discover the multi-displays on how we showcase a variety of possibilities with our beautiful, fresh products of all ranges—never limited to just one. Composure of our lookbooks are based on how a trend of color or texture can be presented in the language and art of floral and garden design. This season is filled with artistic, daring and creative spectrums of color, texture, pattern and style. As we define and refine the stories behind each theme, we curate every piece from all angles through vivid imagination and creativity. Summer is an opportune time to be a bit audacious and adventurous and to bring about the intensity and luminosity of a warm summer day. Highlights of this summer are Pops of colors, especially of those inspired by the pop and abstract art of the 60’s and 80’s with a modern Neon-color twist. In addition, the following includes, transportation to the Prairies, where vintage interior and strong form of dry plants and wooden décor takes form, and then onto the pattern and texture of the summer, where voluminous Feathers, Fringe and Fluff give life. Next, it’s off to an Island full of summer Gardens. Prior to this journey, we open with the color palettes for the summer: Coral, Pastels, and Lavender. Contrasts of soft tones to strong and loud tones are the contradictory stories that unfold in this summer’s floral and garden design.

Every concept is developed and redefined with the DNA of Agora—one composed of passion, hard work, dedication, and love. The foundation of our DNA continues to stand since its conception. As Agora was founded by Marc and Gerd Van Turnhout-Nagels, Agora became a wholesaler in 1981 thanks to the efforts of the family and with the help of our dynamic staff. Agora has a solid reputation as a wholesaler, both in Belgium and abroad. With 5 Cash & Carries in Belgium and 18 in France, our purchasing organizations are additionally located in the Netherlands, France and Italy. Our inspirations are curated beyond the borders of our industry, and we do so, in order to bring about fresh taste, new looks and innovative creations that hope to inspire you and your daily or seasonal creations. Thus, the trends of the summer season are taken through a journey of our creative process, where we translate with perspective to our style. Mixing macramé and crochets with white Delphinium, cacti in construction of the Western Prairie, Daisies in weaved baskets, Orchids underwater and existing as the basis to many of the themes, Roses in Lavender context, Celosia defining Coral, Hydrangeas highlighting the Pastel palette, and Sunflowers figuratively reflecting a sunny summer.Throughout the seven themes, we discover and conceptualize possibilities of the impossibilities, where imagination meets reality and reality meets the fantastical world of floral and garden design.

Inspired by the large plain fields of the West in North America, step into a summer of deserted decor full of Wild West stories.

Reminiscent of rolling grass and subtle wind, adorn long wooden tables and trays with trinkets, accessories, lamps, and candles. Accompany this with a

full decor of fine and delicate leaves and flowers.

For an indoor prairie look, opt for small clusters of vases and flowers with focus on vintage and classic styles. For a full exterior transition piece, from indoor to outdoor, opt for a variety of cacti and soften the look of these

Color themeChoose a color for a theme, then create a mood board. This way, you’re sure where to begin and of the direction. Next, swatch different paint colors. From here, choose a piece of fabric—work with fabric materials to complement the base colors. Use fabrics to create wallpaper and prints—this gives the full look of the theme.

Be daringYou have to bring a variety of colors together—don’t be afraid to explore the synergy in colors of flowers.

Ton sur TonCombine certain colors with each other, specifically colors that complement one another—normally from the same structure and color type. This allows the design to be classic but modern.

PopMix everything together—bold mixtures can be achieved with a combination of both pastel and bright tints.

BeaumontCreate one bouquet from all types of flowers. It’s the newest trends, and there are endless possibilities. Try it and dare to show something different. “Don’t stay just within your own taste, this could be boring. Be Daring.”

Shapes Use the shape of flowers as a basis. Ask yourself which accessories will complement the shapes of the flowers best? Each shape of the flower will offer you a variety of different styles. Make sure it has a story.

Structure Choose the structure of the vases/ jars. Then, focus on the substance—elements that go inside the structure [i.e. plants, flowers, décor material…].

Material Material includes branches, leaves, feathers, pearls or any other décor that you wish to add. Before choosing, ask yourself and visualize which type of material will best enhance the detail of your design.

“The right styling is important for your display and shop, so be sure to make some time for the best results.”

Starting in 1977, Frieke trained in bridal bouquet design and floral

pieces. She then, trained her skills in making clothes in fashion. She

discovered how her learnings from fashion and colors were relatable to

the world of florists. As she dove into the floral sector, she took up

theoretical training in plants and flowers. Now, after 18 years as a florist

and 23 years with Agora [from bouquetterie to stylist], she’s

cooperated in creating this lookbook.

Opt for soft colors and play with different structures of a variety of

flowers for a romantic sphere. [Style Tip: Celosia & Beaumont]

There are two very different arrangements here, yet they complement each other in this theme. The first is softer,

with Peonies and Germini. A touch of Delilah gives a completely new look. Observe the different shapes in this bouquet with the roundness in

the company of the pointy-shaped counterparts.

For a “tough” presentation, create lines with an aerosol paint and allow the paint to naturally drip down. Design with gravity for this effect.

Feathers are not just for Easter but also for summer, as

part of plants. Tillandsia is very interesting because there are many shackles to attach

feathers here. Use glue fillings (for the glue gun) with low

heat as this prevents overheating and ensures that

the plants do not burn.

Separate flowers from one large branch. It’s easier to work with.

Use short stems on top of beakers to make sure that they reach water.

This creates a very natural look.

Gift— take a beautiful box and transform it into a

vase for flowers. It’s a perfect modern look with natural

styling.

Use crowns decorated with shells and sand, place bright

Orchids around the crown for an added accent.

At the moment beach bags and macramé bags are in

trend, use these in place of a vase or a pot.

Phalaenopsis / orchid —for a relaxing feel. Allow these to

hang down instead of strapping them with clipping.
