A Letter from Father... Page 2 August 13, 2017

Death is a Beginning

We say we are a people of ending. When we lose loved ones we often conclude that the end has come.

We experience separation from loved ones and feel as if that separation is eternal. We are a people of ending, but our God is a God of surprises. God’s creation is never destroyed, rather it is always being transformed.

Death leaves us all numb. It is a reality that we would like to dispose of but it contin-ues to linger. It is our faith that sustains us in these fragile moments. Specifically, it is faith in the experience of Jesus himself that keeps us going. Calvary was an all too visible demonstration of the tyranny of death.

On Easter morning, however, Jesus did not simply return to normal life, He was utterly transformed.

Death no longer exercised any powers over him. Instead He, God’s finest creation, had conquered death and therefore assured us that God’s creation is never destroyed rather it is always being transformed.

Many of our parishioners over the years have passed on to the eternal glory of the Father. We know that they continue to form part of our parish family life. They give meaning to that part of our faith creed which says “ I believe in the living and the death”

It is good to give thanks, every once in a while, to all those of SFDS who have gone before us and by their strong faith and zealous spirits have made St. Francis de Sales a living family of faith and hope.

We should not forget the Dead. Their memories will stay with us here in our Church. We walk together as the Body of Christ. Peace,

Healing Brocken Hearts - One Weekend at a Time

Pope Francis said: “God is the light that illumi-nates the darkness...and a spark of divine light is within us.” Sometimes situations and decisions from the past can make us feel disconnected and alone. If you have emotional or spiritual wounds as a result of a past abortion, please consider attend-ing our upcoming Rachel’s Vineyard weekend re-treat September 8 - 10, 2017. It’s an opportunity for women and men to experience God’s love and mercy as He touches each wound with his healing grace. Lives are restored and peace is found. Participation is strictly confidential.
