Summer Reading Project: 2018 Incoming Juniors and Seniors
Dear Incoming Juniors and Seniors,
As a Whittier student, you are required to participate in a summer reading program.
Students in grades 11 and 12 are required to read one book based on the enclosed guidelines.
Students will be required to complete the attached project for their book.
The book will be chosen by you. The book must be at least 150 pages in length and
must be either a young adult or adult-level text.
All students MUST read one book and complete one project. Your project is due
on the first day of school. This will be a portion of your first term grade.
If you need help finding a book, your current English teacher, local library, or bookstore
is always willing to help you find an appropriate title. There are also many lists that can help
you. YALSA (The Young Adult Library Services Association) has many great lists of good,
high-interest titles that are perfect for summer reading. These lists can be found at:
http://www.ala.org/yalsa/booklistsawards/booklistsbook
Have questions? Need help? Email [email protected] for more
information!
Have a great summer. We look forward to seeing you in the fall.
Sincerely,
Your English Teachers
