A Stewardship Thought …
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 TIMOTHY 4:7 Stewardship is not an easy life style. No one prom-ised that it would be. It is counter‐cultural to most things in the world today. However, putting God first in all things, living a life of gratitude and being generous with our time, talent and treasure brings tremendous joy to those who are disciplined. Fight the good fight and keep the faith!
This Weekend’s Scripture First Reading: Acts 12:1-11 King Herod began to harass some of the members of the Church. James, brother of John, was beheaded. Peter was arrested and imprisoned. Through the power of an angel, light shown in the cell and Peter’s chains fell from his wrists. Peter followed the angel to safety and was convinced that the angel was sent by God to save him from Herod.
Second Reading: 2 Timothy 4:6-8, 17-18 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith,” Paul writes. We hear in this read-ing the longing for the day of God’s reign and how sal-vation is near. God will continue to rescue us and keep us from harm.
Gospel: Matthew 16:13-19 When Jesus asks his disciples, “Who do you say that I am?” Peter exclaims, “You are the Messiah!” Christ then declares that Peter is the “Rock upon which he will build his Church” promising Peter the power “to bind” and “to loose”. ©2002 Bon Venture Services, Inc.

Do you know someone who is interested in becoming Catholic?
God works in many different ways, most of the time through ordinary people and events. No matter what a person’s reasons are for becoming Catholic, the Church’s hope and prayer is that whenever God calls them, they will respond.
Becoming Catholic is a process and the Catholic Church has a process called RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation) that the earliest Christians used when peo-ple came to them requesting Baptism. RCIA at OLV meets at 10:30 Mass and directly afterwards each Sunday beginning in September.
If you know someone who was never baptized and may be interested in learning more about the Catho-lic Faith, or someone who was baptized but never received Holy Communion and Confirmation and would like to come into full communion with the Catholic Church, please invite them to join us.
Please fill out the below form and put in the collection basket or drop off at the Parish Office. An RCIA Team Member will be in touch to provide further de-tails. Name: _______________________________

News from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul We’d like to thank our entire OLV Parish family for your ever generous support and we wish you all a wonderful summer and Happy 4th of July. It’s only through your generosity that we accomplish all that we do.
Our Lord said; “As you have done for the least of my brethren, you have done unto me.” This is the basis for all we do at the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. We invite you to share in our mission. If you or someone you know is in need of assistance please contact us through the parish office. In the past we’ve helped people with rent, utility, groceries, medicines, special dietary requirements and many other needs. No work of charity is foreign to our so-ciety. Each new client case is confidentially evalu-ated by members of our Client Service Team. In the name of Christ we are here to help and serve. Please put us to work.
Our next General Meeting will not be until Septem-ber. However if you’d like to become involved with helping those in need within our community please contact us through our voice mailbox at (732)- 257-0077 ext. 421.
