MUSEUM SCHOOL INSTRUCTOR ROSTER Michelle Bliss has been published in Ninth Letter, River Teeth, and the sixth edition of The Fourth Genre: Contemporary Writers of/on Creative Nonfiction. Her radio reporting has won two regional Edward R. Murrow awards and has aired on NPR’s A ll Things Considered. Michelle holds a MFA degree from UNCW in nonfiction. Sheila Boneham has been a full-time writer for twenty years, and is the award- winning author of some twenty traditionally published non-fiction books, hundreds of articles, and a new mystery series, as well as (occasionally) poetry. She has taught writing and creativity courses in universities and non-degree programs in Washington, DC, Maryland, Indiana, and abroad. Betty Brown began studying painting in 1975. She holds degrees from Queens University in Charlotte and UNCW. Betty taught painting and life drawing for many years at the old St. John’s Cowan House and Cameron Art Museum. Martha Burdette earned a BFA in Art Education from UNC Greensboro in 1988. She has taught art in public schools from kindergarten through high school and has instructed adults and lifelong learners in museum and community settings, as well as in her studio. Todd Carignan was born and raised in Wilmington, NC. He graduated with a BFA in Sequential Art and a minor in Art History from the Savannah College of  Art & Des ign. He moved back to Wilmi ngton, w here he has bee n making a rt for galleries, taking commissioned projects, teaching art and winning awards in  juried co mpetitions . He curre ntly has an art stud io in the Wabi Sab i Warehou se. Alan Cradick has been a photographer for 30 years, serving in the US Coast Guard providing editorial, portrait and feature photography. He currently photographs features and sports as a stringer at the StarNews. His teaching focuses on basic digital photography, studio lighting, nature, composition and portraiture. Donna Moore joined Wilmington’s art community as a Creative Arts major at UNCW where she studied and worked with Claude Howell. Graduating with a BA in 1981, Moore has many years of experience teaching all ages. Dr. John Myer earned a Bachelor’s in European History, Master’s in Italian Renaissance Art History and PhD in American Art History. He retired in 2009 after teaching at UNCW for 30 years. Abby Spangel Perry’s art is inspired by our biological world. Through studio practice and conceptual thought, she gives visual form to current ecological issues. Abby holds a BFA and MFA in Painting from East Carolina University. Bonnie Rogers has a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Arts from UNC- Wilmington.

She has a passion for drawing with pastels and hopes to share that excitementwith like-minded artists/students.

Henry Steffens, Professor Emeritus of History, University of Vermont, earned aPhD in History from Cornell University. His teaching specialties were 19th and

early 20th

century history of science and European society and culture from 1870to 1940.

Kirah Van Sickle is an award-winning artist with undergraduate science and artdegrees from Duke University and Master’s in Medical Illustration from theMedical College of Georgia. She is completing an MFA in Painting from the

 Academy of Art University.

Melanie Walter discovered the lost art of pine needle basketry in the early1990s. She developed a unique personal style incorporating natural elements.Her award-winning work is currently located in 40+ galleries and shopsthroughout the country.

Margie Worthington is a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill and received an MFA atEast Carolina University. She served as Curator of Education at the St. John’sMuseum of Art from 1985 to 1990 and was later a member of the art faculty atUNCW.
