RSG 2-4yrs Each session lasts 1 hour 30 minutes and includes

the following:

Tots-Bee-Fit - take part in lots of fun and exciting

games for children and their parents/carers.

Munch Time - meet Munch Junior and help him

taste a new fruit and veg each week.

Lifestyle workshops - explore the five food

groups, find new ideas on tackling fussy eating,

take some tips on taming tantrums and share

your experiences throughout the programme.

Free crèche is provided for children during the

lifestyle workshop.

The 4-7 programme has recently been to Paddock

Village Hall. The group had a great time meeting

new friends and learning lots of new ways to

become healthier.

To take us to our final destination we had a fantastic

journey through the final assault course challenge,

this was the only challenge standing between us and

getting our last ticket to enter the spaceship which

would take us to our final destination….a well

earned party!

Thank you and well done to all the families who took

part in the February (to April) programme!

Next programme coming to the Huddersfield ar-

ea in October 2014

RSG 7-13yrs Well done to all the families who attended and completed Ready, Steady, Go 7-13 in April at Batley Baths!

12 families attended the eight weeks and learnt lots of new tips and tricks on how to eat healthier and

become more active. To celebrate the success of the programme and the changes the families had made,

the families took part in a group reward of a free fun swim followed by a party with lots of healthy food,

games and a bouncy castle!

“I have learnt many things on this course. I have learnt that I don’t need certain foods, I can still eat similar

foods but with less fat”

RSG 4-7yrs

Our Ready, Steady, Go (RSG) programme is now in full swing with all programmes fully booked over the

8 Health Tips and Activities...

Encouraging children to try new foods!

Keep trying: A child may need 10 -

15 tastes of a new food to develop a

liking for it, so don’t give up after a few

attempts.

Encourage: Don’t force your child to try a

new food just encourage with praise when

they try something new and then try again

another day if they don’t like it.

Choice: Ask your child to pick a new fruit or

vegetable while at the supermarket and chat

about it. The more familiar they become the

more likely they are to eat it. Always have fruit

in a bowl easy accessible for your child.

A good example: If your child

sees you eating healthily and

trying new foods they are more

likely to copy you and other

family members.

Involve: Get your

child involved in food

preparation and

maybe even grow

your own fruit and

veg, this may en-

courage willingness

to try new foods.

The same: Try serving

new foods in the same

way as favourite foods,

i.e. instead of chips try

sweet potato chips, or

use a familiar sauce with

chicken or fish instead.
