A size 7 Ralph Lauren Polo hoodie was left at the Cricket Camp. Let Secretary Alan know if this belongs to your young crickter.

Now that the coin has been tossed, let’s check out the view from cow corner and see what’s been happening with the leather on willow.

U12s S H Green v Newtown 8th November

Sent in to bat under the Big Game rules, Nick, 25, and Oscar, 14, got us away to a flyer, with Nick slashing three fours before the pair retired. Mohammed and Ares continued on with 13 and 10 runs respectively.

The challenge for the Greens was getting enough hittable balls, as Newtown struggled with line and length delivering over 50 in sundries, although their ground fielding was excellent. The boys totalled 113 for five wickets.

Rhys and Cameron opened our bowling against Newtown's best pair, restricting them to just over four runs an over during the first four overs. It was then that the Greens' bowling ramped up with Nick grabbing 3/2 including two wicket maidens, while Oscar's fast deliveries returned 3/5 including a wicket maiden.

Newtown was reeling, with Raf grabbing 2/4 and Takoda snaffling his first wicket for the team with 1/6. Mo, Angus, Charlie and Ben, although bowling without luck, were very tight and Ares snatched another good catch from behind the stumps, that complemented two team run outs as well. The boys from Newtown were all out for just 60. A disciplined team effort from the Green Boys returned a great victory for Summer Hill. Well done everyone.

U12 Blue v Strathfield Gold 1st & 8 th Nov

The forecast was for a stinker for the first day of this two day match. It was important to win the toss which Blue captain Matt Gardiner did and opted to bat.

The batting was steady but slow and four wickets had fallen for 52 when Luca joined Adil at the crease for a 78 run partnership for the 5th wicket. Rotating the strike and hitting the ball cleanly, Adil posted a PB and team record of 60 and Luca hit a PB of 30. Carl joined Luca and scored a PB of 35no. Blue were all out for 176 in the 40th over.

U12 Blue Carl Arthur

The weather was hot and after over three hours in the field, the Strathfield boys were exhausted and Blues opening bowlers had been resting in the shade of broad tree for most of the morning. Opening the bowling for Blue, Matt had three wickets by the end of his first over. From the other end, vice captain Riley picked up two wickets and with Sam and Matt combining for a run out and Matt taking a caught and bowled, at stumps on day one, Strathfield were 7 for 38.

The weather for day two was much better but Strathfield were looking at trouble. It didn’t take long to continue as Carl took a difficult catch to give Matt (and the team) their first ever five for. Another caught and bowled to Matt and with Finn lifting the bails neatly off the off stump, closed the Strathfield innings for 48. With the glow of figures of six overs, two maidens 6 for 10 and an assisted run out to his name, Summer Hill captain Matt decided to enforce the follow on.

Blue were confident but Strathfield were determined and focused on the big job in front of them and with their opening batsmen feeling fresh, they put the usual character on their innings that we expect from them. The top order batted with diligence and care, defending the

good balls and attacking the bad balls. It was a slow grind for both teams as SHCC struggled to get the ball past the bat and take wickets. The first five batters all stayed around for their allotted 20 overs, pickling up good runs, frustrating the bowlers who didn’t break through often enough in the end. Strathfield batted the whole day and as stumps were drawn, Strathfield were 5 for 162 in their second innings, having drawn the match with first inning points going to SH Blue.

U12 Blue Matt Gardiner 6/10 off 6 overs

U15 Girls v St Pat’s Pink by Vice Captain Amira El Zahr

After the scorching sun on Friday, Saturday brought relief and our SHCC team played a fantastic game at Ashfield Park. Once again we versed St. Pat’s Pink and once again we smashed them. The overall score for St. Pat’s with an unfortunate 53 runs for all out in 16 overs and SHCC with 5/135 for 20 overs. St. Pat’s won the toss and chose to bat first witch left Summer Hill fielding first. Our opening bowlers were Stephanie and Michaela.

Stephanie got 0/6 whereas Michaela got 2/3. The rest of the team's scores were Nell 1/9, Alicia 0/8, Amira 2/7, Shabitha 0/7, Emaan 0/6 and Dhakshana 1/2.

After keeping the field tight hence only letting St. Pat’s get 53 runs we went off to bat with the opening batters Amira and Shabitha. Amira

scored 2 while Shabitha scored 25 runs. The rest of the team scores were Emaan on 9, Stephanie on 25, Michaela on 44, Dhakshana on 1, Alicia on 4 and Nell on 1. We finished of the day with 135 runs losing only 5 wickets. We won after a very big effort from all the girls.

U9s SH Red vs SH Green, 8th November

SH Red fielded first and had a great tussle with SH Green. The bowling figures were Jed with 2/4, Spencer with 2/18 and Matthew with 1/5. Everyone is showing improvement with their control and line, and it showed with a lot fewer no balls. For Green, Ben did well with the bat and put on 21 with a couple of boundaries, and Green got to 77 for the break.

Red went in to bat, and Aiden and Spencer opened. The Green bowlers did well to limit the scoring, but Spencer managed a boundary. Matthew and Will followed and both managed to get in some scoring shots, mostly singles with another boundary to Will. Edmund and Leo followed and faced some clean bowling and dealt with it well, but scoring was slow only getting a couple away, then Jed and Connor closed out the batting and again dealt with it well and only got a couple away. In the end Red scored 41 giving Green the win, but only losing 6 wickets.

A big difference as ever was in the no balls, but Green’s batting from Ben, Josh and Lucas took the day.

U12 Div 2 Red v Earlwood Wanderers 8th Nov

After 4 weeks of practice games, our first "real" game of cricket was against Earlwood Wanderers who won the toss and sent us to bat.

However Ben and Abhigyan had other ideas putting on an opening partnership of 24 in 5 rovers before Ben was run out for 9. Nirmay joined Abhigyan and advanced the score to 28 before Abhigyan retired. Johan and Nirmay added the best partnership of the innings with a

brisk 43 runs taking the total to 71 in the 14th over before Nirmay retired with 15 to his name.

Carlo showed his athletic skills in running between the wickets, calling Johan for everything during a brief but entertaining partnership of 16 runs in 3 overs before Johan retired with 26 runs to his personal tally with the score at 87. Louis and Carlo continued the quick singles; however a mix up occurred and the throw beat Carlo and he became our second run out of the innings in the 17th over. batsman Connor and Louis combined for a 23 run partnership in 6 overs before Louis became our 3rd runout with 9 runs against his name.

Jay came to crease and held his end up while Connor plundered the bowling before retiring in the 25th over on 8 runs. Will and Jay kept their wickets in tact during an a entertaining partnership of 13 runs before Will was run out on the last ball of the innings. SH Red 4

Carlo still annoyed at being run out channelled his energy into the ball, breaking the stumps with his 3rd ball. Abhigyan charging in off the long run from the southern end keep the pressure on the Earlwood batmen allowing Carlo to strike again in his second over! Earlwood's score mounted steadily through the bowling of Abhigyan, Nirmay and Johan for 5 overs before Ben stuck with first ball, disturbing the castle again! Connor did it again the next over leaving The Wanderers wondering at 4 down after 10 overs. The Wanderers certainly had Summer Hill Red with red faces from chasing leather during a succession over overs from BenConnor and Carlo returning for his second spell to ball the 17th over and drinks.

Refreshed after drinks the Summer Hill lads showed excellent application. First Johan stuck twice in his 3rd over, first up bowled and then inducing a thick edge to give Louis a catch behind the stumps. Ben followed up immediately in his third over by knocking the stumps over again, Abhigyan and Nirmay did likewise in the next two overs leaving Earlwood nine down. The scorers were in a flurry to keep up! Will's teasing leg breaks and Jay's medium pace kept the score in check with plenty of overs remaining.

Connor returned to the bowling crease for the second spell bowling a tight line. Good ground fielding kept the pressure on the batsmen. An attempted quick single off the 5th ball saw the last wicket fall to a runout with the score on 88,

king the total to 71 in the 14th over before Nirmay retired with 15 to his name.

U9s SH Red vs Marrickville Barnes 15th Nov

SH Red won the toss and elected to put Marrickville in to bat, and Red went on to have a great day with the ball. Spencer took 2/2 off 3 overs with a maiden, Edmund 1/2 off 3, Matthew 1/2 off 2, Jordan 1/4 off 2 and Will 1/ 5 off 3, but everyone did well with Jed 0/4 and a maiden, Leo 0/2 off 3 overs and Connor 0/5 off 2. Everyone has made a massive improvement in the control and line this week, with only 29 compared to last week’s 57. Everyone posted 5 or less no balls which is fantastic, and this kept Marrickville to 45 runs.

Jed and Connor opened the batting and both got scoring shots away, as did Matthew and Edmund following. The score kept moving steadily, the Will and Spencer came in after the break and posted the biggest partnership of the day with 25, including a boundary for Will. Leo and Jordan closed out the innings with another boundary to Jordan. Matthew and Will topped the score sheets with 15 each (9 and 6 off the bat respectively), and Red only lost 2 wickets posting a score of 65 to win in difficult conditions, but it was the bowling improvement by everybody on the Red team was the big difference on the day.

U10s SHCC Green v Strathfield 15th Nov

It was a cool, overcast morning as Nick the coach informed the team that this match against Strathfield was likely to be SH Green’s most challenging encounter of the season to date. Acting captain Isak called tails, heads landed, and Stratfield nominated to field. Benji and Jessie made their way to the crease. It became apparent that pace bowling was the order of the day, with the ball coming consistently hard and fast off the first few deliveries. Benji then took the full force of the ball just below the ribs and was forced to retire temporally. Jessie and Ryan continued the pairing, however there was to be no easy runs this pairing. This made for action packed cricket, with a number of wickets tumbling. Jessie took a number of 4’s

from some challenging deliveries, and with some good running and calls from Ryan, the pair were able claw back a net total of 5 runs. Jack and Ben took up their positions, however after an initial number of 4’s hit by Ben during the first two overs, the pair settled into some solid cricket, facing a sustained number of quality deliveries, and did well to loose only one wicket and were able to add a well-earned 27 runs for the pairing. Recovered, Benji bravely returned to the field again with Isak in the third pairing. The batters having initially adopted a defensive batting stance, blocking a number of well-delivered balls bowled with pace, defended their respective wickets well. The pair did not concede a single wicket, adding a very respectable 21 runs. With team confidence being slowly restored, Charlie and Jaunty took to the field. Jaunty consistently found the center of the bat, hitting a four in each of the first four overs while Charlie keept the run rate up, with two 4’s in the last three overs and the pair accumulated a hard earned total of 28 runs for the pairing, conceding only a single wicket, bringing the total for SH Green’s innings, and given the high quality of Stratfield’s bowling and fielding, to a very respectable 83.

With the oranges devoured, Nick reminded teh team of the importance of fielding and backing up. It was evident from the offset that the initial pair of Stratfield’s batsmen were of very good quality, and went on to accumulate a solid total of 47 for the first pairing.

U10 Green Ryan goes for a catch

The second pairing of Stratfield’s accumulating 35 runs with no wickets falling. Despite the mounting run tally, Summer Hill Green maintained the pressure with some solid bowling, energetic fielding and consistent backing up, and Stratfield’s third order pairing were held to just 14 runs, with one wicket falling

to a great ball delivered with pace from Ben in the second over.

U10 Green Ben chasing down the ball Strathfield’s final pairing accumulated 28 runs, but not before we claimed two wickets, the first falling as a result of a run out, off a delivery from Ben and the second from a great catch by Jaunty, off a delivery by Charlie. In spite of a final score line of Strathfield 124 to Summer Hill Green’s 83, and being the team’s first defeat of the season, spirits were high.

U12 Div 2 Red v Marrickville 15th Nov

This match saw the Reds taking on Marrickville at our home ground - Ewan Park. Captain for the day Carlo tossed, Marrickville called tails and Carlo waited ..... Tails, Marrickville sent SH Reds in. Connor and Ben opened up, with Connor (1) being out caught in the second over. Johan joined Ben only to be bowled for naught in the 3rd over, with the score at 2 - 9. Carlo came to the crease and enjoyed a long and fruitful partnership with Ben, running hard and adding 65 runs in only 10 overs before Ben retired with 33. Abhigyan played himself in while Carlo kept the runs flowing; retiring at the 16th over for 10 with the score on 82.

Louis and Abhigyan advanced the score to 114 in. The 21st over before Louis (11) was out caught. Abhigyan did not stay much longer, being bowled also for 11 in the 22nd over with the score at 4-118. Nirmay and Luka advanced the scores to 133 in the 24th over before Nirmay (8) retired. Luka was out the next over for 4. Will and Charlie keeping the score ticking over until the 28th over when Charlie retired.

Jay and Will could not get a partnership going and Will was out attempting to hook the opening bowler into the muddy puddle that is the Cooks with the score on 145. Charlie came back to the crease and with Jay added valuable runs during the last over before being runout on the last ball

for 2, Jay remained 2 not out. We had posted a solid total of 7-148 from over full 30 overs.

Marrickville began their innings against a solid opening attack of Luka and Charlie. Louis bowled the 5th over and the Marrickville openers were still in residence. Enter Ben and what's that I heard - the stumps being rattled with the 2nd ball AND the 5th. Connor kept thing s tight for Ben to bowl his second over and Marrickville were 3-32 after 8 overs.

We tried nearly everything but the Marrickville boys batted and batted and batted and the score advanced to 85. We then tried the oldest trick in the book for the second week in a row - drinks break, change of keeper and a new bowler. Carlo ... Down go the stumps again - first ball after the break. Johan keeps the pressure on and Carlo does again and AGAIN breaking the stumps with his 1st and 4th balls leaving Marrickville 6-93 after 21 overs.

Abhigyan tried, Connor came back for a second spell, and then the ball was given to Ben who induced an edge to Carlo at slip via the batsman's boot! 7- 105 in the24th with two retired batsmen in the shed.

Luka, Nirmay, Jay, Charlie, Johan all tried hard but the Marrickville batsmen were equal to the task advancing the score to 120. Abhigyan took the now slightly worn ball and worked his magic picking up 2 wickets including a beautiful bowled of the last ball of the innings.

Marrickville finished with 9-121 in response the Summer Hill total of 148. Wicket takers for the Red were Ben with 4-6, Carlo with 3-2 and Abhigyan with 2-6
