And so all year round we work on providing the right platform for our students to channel their ever evolving talents.

Summer / FallKG & Elementary High l ights

The creative flow of our kids is one of many things we admire about our students and we truly enjoy our part in enriching their artistic potential through different means. Be it acting, singing, drawing, exercising, overall performance of any sort, we have our children’s backs by encouraging them to express themselves creatively and artistically.

And so all year round we work on providing the right platform for our students to channel their ever evolving talents. Inside class and out, the room is there for them to “create” work of their own as an extracurricular activity.

Each and every teacher and staff member is there to help our students work on their individual interest of choice, as we believe that the extra

mile we wholeheartedly put in is as important as the school curriculum and event agenda.

From impromptu singing to organized in-school competitions, from end of year shows to art exhibitions, from morning assemblies to athletic school activities, we believe in expression and it is our role to help direct our students to productively express themselves through art and sport.

School EventsThere are special days that are worthy of celebration, and are most importantly fun for our kids to experience. At school, we like to take advantage of these days as to help create beautiful memories for our students to look back to and remember happy school days where games and activities were involved, along with important gatherings that carry meaningful messages and call for bringing us all together.

Autism AwarenessWe take pride in our unity, in our student integration, it is what defines us as a school as first envisioned and foreseen by our late School Principle Mrs. Magda Moussa. We celebrate our inclusive environment all year round, inside class and out, everyday. But during Autism Awareness month, the Resource Room team coordinated with our PE coaches a fun activity session during our Wednesday Assembly, where the kids of G2 to G5 and the teachers took off to the field and raced to our coaches’ whistles.

LEGO DayOn Lego Day, our G2 to G5 students unleashed their inner fun and colorful architects! Each grade was ushered to a session of creativity outside of the Activity Room. Out in the field, the kids gathered around different stations, taking turns building blocks and developing fiction infused exciting plots, where high fortresses and towers were involved, and more.

KG Open HouseThe Open House for KG1 and KG2 is a day worthy of celebration in school. It is a day where we see how our kids have developed in their motor skills and capacity to learn and attain knowledge since the beginning of the academic year. On the Open House day, our KG parents get to spend the morning in class with their children as they go about their morning routine and different in-class interactive activities.

Giza Zoo AwarenessA group of students of the American University of Cairo paid quite the insightful visit to our school and talked to our students about the Giza Zoo. Having one class after the other attend the session, the group of college students presented themselves and their project that is meant to spread awareness about the zoo. They started off with a brief history about the zoo, that it opened its gates back in1981 under the rule of Khadive Ismail and that it was once ranked the 2nd largest zoo in the world, along with other fascinating "Did You Know?" facts. Moving on to this day and age, the current state of the zoo and the animals were discussed, and so were the suggested solutions to better the lives of the animals and the overall experience of the visit. The excitement continued as the kids underwent a session recap pop quiz and got their answers right.

School TripsOur school trips mix education and fun, and to us, both staff members and students alike, the school trip day is a favorite day of ours. Ranging from exposure to culture, to connecting with nature, to creative outlets and factory visits, the school trips are designed to break the routine and package new experiences in an exciting way to our students. This Trimester our kids visited the Pyramids of Giza, the Pharonic Village, Art Cafe, Discovery City, Sakkara Country Club, the movies and Alexandria.

Pyramids of GizaOff to the Pyramids of Giza they went; the youngest of our students, both classes of KG1. The kids have been learning in class about Egypt, its cities and of course it’s grand history. And there is no better way to experience our country’s grandeur than by visiting one of the 7 wonders of the world, the all mighty Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx.

Pharaonic VillageOur students stepped back in time and relived Egypt’s historic timeline to date at the Pharaonic Village. They started off by cruising through Egypt’s history, watching live enactments of the most iconic stories, then walked through the open museum of the Pharaohs, passing through turning points of time, down to our modern day Egypt.

Art CafeOur students rolled up their sleeves on this trip and show cased their artistic side at Art Café. Having had their end of year show coming up in a few days, our students covered the theme of their show and worked on exciting colorful items from bags, hats and frames to making delicious cookies.

Discovery CityIt was one fully fledged informative trip that the kids went on. It was a discovery journey that exposed them to various aspects of life, science, earth, and outer space all under one roof. They saw different landforms and displayed forces of nature from hurricanes to volcanoes. They travelled through Egypt’s timeline from the Pharaohs to modern day. They studied the human body in the science section of the museum. Watched an “Ocean Life” documentary, and stepped in different habitats of animals and saw fossils of extinct dinosaurs. They also took off to the Planetarium, and gained knowledge of outer space, astronauts and the solar system.

Sakkara Country ClubThe kids took off to Sakkara Country Club for a fun day of different activities. The kids beat the heat and enjoyed the pool, water fun games and went hosre back riding and more.

MoviesThe KG2 & G1 classes went on the best trip of them all and that is the movies! They watched the animation film, The Boss Baby and came back these shots

AlexandriaOur Elementary Seniors, both G5 Red & G5 Orange went on a day trip to Alexandria and brought back those totally fun pictures. Our explorers got to visit the Library of Alexandria, the Catacombs (Roman Tombs) and Pompey's Pillar. The most important stop of all was lunch at Balbaa and refreshing ice cream from Azza.

Character Building - Vibrant Values Challenge

6

As we conclude the 2016 – 2017 academic year, it is time to evaluate our all year round Character Building sessions and how they have affected our students behavior and characters. And by doing so, we aimed to further encourage our students to showcase some basic values that define them as active citizens by stressing on some essential social skills to help them lead productive lives.

By adding a little incentive, we held an in-school challenge covering three main values “Sense of Achievement”, “Citizenship” and “Compassion”. The in-school challenge was run by our teachers across the last trimester, where every student had to collect 5 thumbs-up to count for their displaying of the said value, and upon completion we hung their picture on the wall of fame on campus.

Student Initiatives

Sci-Fi ComicsA team with a passion for sc ience f ic t ion gathered together and worked on a mini comic book. What was most inspiring is their level of team work and dedication to the project. Thank you, Mahmoud, Ziad, Saba, Omar, Belal, Yassin, Abdelrahman, and Hamza.

Think Different Zimmer TwinsMalak and Habiba, two of our G5 students took it upon themselves and walked our school grounds and did some improvised interviewing of their colleagues and teachers. The questions may have varied, but one thing remained consistent and that is to “Think Big”.

Under Mrs. Heba’s supervision, 5 Reading A to Z graduates started an online comic series as an extra curricular project. Amal, Nour, Adam, Omar, and Mazen worked together and produced funny short clips about two characters called The Zimmer Twins.

The Voice MLSTalents were unleashed alright! Now welcome to The Voice MLS competition story. The competition was open for the Elementary & Middle School students to audition. We had 13 students from G5 pass the first round. In the second round, 5 were elected by our judges and incredible music teachers Mrs. Reem and Mr. Nader. We then shared the videos of the top 5 Elementary students online, where you our dear parents helped vote for the finalists Adam, Aly and Habiba to take center stage for the final round. The final round took place at the MLS Theater, in the presence of the Middle School students along with the Fifth Graders.

Our judges were Mrs. Amy our Elementary Headmistress, Mrs. Dina the Middle School Headmistress, Mrs. Reem and Mr. Nader, and the audience as well got the chance to cast their votes for the best performance at the event.

We are so proud to share that the first place went to our very own Elementary kid, Aly El Alfy who sang Wherever You Will Go.

The day after, we held a ceremonial event by the flag area where we celebrated all 13 students and awarded them with a Certificate of Achievement for taking a chance on themselves and for sharing with us their talent.

Art Blast ExhibitionOur talented KG & Elementary students were able to unleash the artistic genius that is found in each and every one of them all year round in Art Class with Ms. Aya and Ms. Noha. Accordingly, our school held one big Art Blast Exhibition where we put in one place the masterpieces of our American division students from Elementary to High School.

School ChampionsIt has been a long year at school and the sport tournaments were in full effect. Our students were divided into teams: France, Spain, Egypt and Germany and played for the school championship in which the teams respectively won in soccer, handball, basketball and volley ball. In celebration of our team players, we held a celebratory gathering by the flag area where Mrs. Amy announced the winning teams and awarded each team medals for their outstanding performance, and Mr. Walid elected Hassan and awarded him for his sportsmanship all year round.

End of Year Production

KG1 Frogtastic & KG1 Dinomite

Our KG2 classes presented us with two different plays for their end of year performance. The KG2 Sock-Monkeys took us on an adventure under the sea with Tiddler: The Storytelling Fish; while the KG2 Fantabulous Stars took us on a journey through the forest in The Gruffalo.

KG2 Sock-Monkeys & KG2 Fantabulous Stars

The youngest and newest members of our school family held their first end of year mega performance on stage and they warmed our hearts with pride. Our KG1 students from both KG1 Frogtastic and KH1 Dinomite classes performed a special enactment of Mother Goose: A Tale of Sheep and Friendship, followed by lots of dancing and singing and laughs and overall fun.

G1 Owl Stars & G1 Zebra

Dr. Seuss’ Cat in the Hat was made real by our Second Graders in their end of year show. Teaching us lessons about honesty and family, our G2 Aqua and G2 Purple pulled together an all star performance of acting, singing and dancing.

G2 Aqua & G2 Purple

The First Graders hopped on the fun train and choo- chooed their way to school and brought us the Mr. Rhythm’s Circus show. As their end of year production, both G1 Owl Stars and G1 Zebra classes brought us the king of the jungle, monkeys, seals, jugglers, clowns and more fun company. They sang and acted and danced and displayed an overall performance of wit, cleverness and dedication.

G3 Kelly Green & G3 BlueThe Umpa Lumpas took over the MLS Theater during the Third Graders end of year show. Both G3 Kelly Green and G3 Blue classes delivered a fine recreation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The students shined in their performance and their sense of humor was flowing like Willy Wonka’s grand chocolate river.

Our Fourth Graders, both G4 Green and G4 Yellow classes recreated "Horton Hears a Who!" by Dr. Seuss for their end of year show and it was incredible. They helped deliver one of the finest messages there is "a person is a person, no matter how small", in the funkiest most devoted performance ever.
