Mary Woodward 1930 – 2021

Farewell Mary, from your many friends at the Alberta Kennel Club

Mary was born on July 5, 1930 in Okotoks, AB. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and determination in life.

Mary and her husband Charlie were active members of the Alberta Kennel Club since the early 1960s. Mary would soon become the voice and face of AKC as Chair of the Judges’ Committee as the Club invited new judges

from all parts of the world. Mary’s idea was “invite them and they will come”, and come they did. Many not knowing where Calgary was until they looked it up on a map. Mary enlisted Charlie as Hospitality and

Transportation representative. Joe Fleming came on board to present White Hats and acted as liaison with the ever-growing judging panels. Shows were growing larger and larger.

Mary was elected treasurer of the AKC at about the same time she became Judges’ Chair. She had a firm hand of fiscal restraint on all parts of AKC. Many of the Club traditions of Western Hospitality began in the 1970’s

instituted by the Woodwards. Some people become the soul and glue that holds a club together; for the AKC, that person was Mary Woodward. After retiring from her position as supervisor at Trans Alta Utilities, Mary still had a full-time job devoting endless hours to each and every show that the AKC hosted. She taught the group known as the Alberta Kennel Club Show Secretaries well and they ran their own shows for years. When Mary

finally retired as an active member of the AKC, it took more than one volunteer to match her contribution.

Mary and Charlie bred and exhibited white Standard and Miniature Poodles under the Marichar prefix. Mary did the grooming and ring presentation was handled by Charlie at local shows beginning with the unforgettable

“Oliver” from Alekai Standard Poodles. Oliver was a delight and a true show dog, winning Groups and Best in Shows on both sides of the 49th parallel. Such was the Woodward’s influence in the poodle ring that, at a show,

a small but noticeable error in the body coat pattern on their dog appeared overnight on both competing Specials! How hard it was to keep a straight face.

Susan Marie Badick December 1943 – May 2021

Interested in dogs from an early age, Susan won the Alberta Kennel Club Junior Handling Championship in 1958. The breeds she has shown in the conformation ring include: Labrador Retrievers, Pembroke Welsh Corgis, Scottish Terriers, Salukis, All Dachshund varieties, and Whippets.

For forty years, Susan worked at the University of Calgary retiring from Library Acquisitions and everyone in the library knew Sue. After retirement in December, 2004, she was able to dedicate even more time to her passion - dogs. She bred and showed many champion wire-haired mini dachshunds and co-bred whippets with her daughter Carla, under the registered name Nasusa. Together, Carla and Susan started the Stampede City Whippet Club. Susan was a founding member of the Alberta Sporting Hound Association.

She was involved for thirty years in the Alberta Kennel Club and was informally known as one of the “Three Mary’s” along with Mary Woodward and Mary Driscoll. Formidable ladies, all. She acted show secretary for many clubs, was a valued member of the DogShow team, and also traveled internationally as an All-Breed Judge and mentor to many. Gaye Sjoberg, a friend of Susan and her daughter Carla, remembers Susan: Many in the dog show world have already heard the incredibly sad news that our dear friend Susan Badick left us suddenly on May 24. Susan - of the CKC Kennel Nasusa, Perm. Reg’d, mini wire-haired dachshunds and whippets; the whippets co-bred with her daughter Carla Badick.

A mutual friend had recently remarked, “If you’re in whippets and don’t know who Susan Badick is, then you haven’t done your research. You’re not really in whippets.”

Susan WAS “dog show”, show secretary for so many clubs, her work impeccable. A highly respected all-breed judge for over 40 years, her assignments took her around the world. She had many struggles over the past 15 years, including the deaths of both her children, yet kept moving forward.

Sue, your knowledge was vast, opinions often known, judging highly respected, mentorship coveted. You treated me like family for 30 years - most often in a good way - and for that I am eternally grateful. I will miss our movie outings, drives to events, conversations in your living room and delicious holiday meals expertly prepared. When you had had enough of the tomfoolery, your “Get out!” was always followed by, “I love you!”. I think I’ll miss that the most. RIP my surrogate mom. Thank you for so many years of love and advice. You have left behind a legacy in the dog fancy world and a massive hole in the hearts of so many. We can only imagine the incredible reunions at the rainbow bridge. Until we meet again …. Godspeed.

Tubby (Raymond) Miller March 28, 1934 – July 14, 2021

Tubby was born and raised in Winnipeg MB. He moved to Calgary, Alberta in the late 1950’s where he married Dugan and raised his family of 3 kids, Michelle, Glen and Kerri. Tubby’s sense of community was evident by the thousands of hours he spent volunteering in everything from being a scout leader, to PALS screening and visits, and hours with Newfoundland Dog Rescue of Alberta. Tubby was one of the founding members of the Calgary PALS, Spruce Meadows Prairie Dogs and the Newfoundland Dog Fanciers of Alberta. His passion for Newfoundland dogs started at an early age and grew overtime. Janey was his first Newf that he ever trained and competed with, he achieved 8 High in Trials,

and this started a desire that grew into a passion that was apparent, until the day he died. Tubby was very well knowing in the Obedience world, he was an Obedience Chairman for many years for several local clubs, a CKC Obedience Rep, member of the Obedience council for CKC, but most of all, a support person for countless competitors when they needed it the most. After Obedience his next passion was Rally Obedience. He fell in love with it when competing in the US and when Rally came to Canada, he was off and running to teach as many people the new sport as he could. Tubby and his daughter Michelle held several Rally classes to this new sport and they LOVED the successes of all the people who achieved their titles. Tubby had many accomplishments and many titles with his dogs. The most was with his Newf Lexie, together they had 23 titles. There were more on various dogs, 62 Draft dog titles, 85 Obedience titles, 50 Water rescue titles and 32 Rally Titles. However, at the end of the day Tubby loved to teach anyone who wanted to learn about how to work with their dogs. Everything from obedience to rally obedience to carting to water rescue, he simply wanted everyone to succeed. He had a sense of humor and he loved to play pranks and make people laugh. Tubby was never without a joke and had his delivery down to a tee. We will miss his presence at the Obedience and Rally rings, his humor, his advice, his support. Remember the things Tubby did for you, honor him by helping someone when you can, pull a fun prank, pay it forward or tell a joke to make someone laugh, and if you see gentleman with a long white mustache smiling and cheering you on from the ring side, you know its Tubby.

A MESSAGE TO OUR EXHIBITORS We are all people who share an abiding interest in our dogs and in participating in the world of the Dog Fancy. Some of us are only exhibitors and some only volunteers, but many of us are both.

At the Alberta Kennel Club, we are proud of our more than one-hundred-year record of service to the Fancy. At all times it is our intention to give you the best Dog Show that we possibly can.

We need to speak about respect for one another and while understanding the pressures on both the Exhibitor and the Volunteer; we believe we all can do better. Dog Shows offer us an opportunity to meet and to compete; ideally, in a supportive environment. Dog Shows need volunteer organizers and participants but if we cannot find common ground, then the volunteers will leave and participants will have nowhere to compete.

Rude and disrespectful behavior can’t be tolerated on either side.

If we have erred, please let us know. We will listen to concerns that are reasonably and politely expressed and will fix what we can. It is not our intention to upset you.

After an extraordinarily difficult last 18 months of disruptions, cancellations, isolation, and anxiety we are all stepping into a new world. We know that there are many points of view on what has happened. We don’t have a political point of view; we just want to be able to come back together in the knowledge that we are safer this summer than we were last summer but we are not living in the same world as we did in 2019. Some concern remains for those among us that may be more vulnerable. Please help us to keep all as safe as we can.

The Alberta Kennel Club will have zero tolerance for rude language or bad behaviour and will invite disruptive people to leave the Show and no refunds will be offered.

COVID-19 Information

SUBJECT TO CHANGE IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THIS SHOW

The Alberta Kennel Club is pleased to welcome you to our 2021 Summer Classic. By entering the AKC Shows you are agreeing to the protocols that have been designed to help keep us safe while we are together. This group of shows are private events only, no outside spectators please. There will be a PHOTOGRAPHER at this show they will have their own COVID-19 Protocols in place. PROVINCE OF ALBERTA COVID-19 REGULATIONS

• Chief Medical Officer of Health order 05-2020: 2020 COVID-19 response legally obligates any person who has the following core symptoms of cough, fever, shortness of breath, runny nose, or sore throat (that is not related to a pre-existing illness or health condition) to be in isolation for 10 days from the start of symptoms, or until symptoms resolve, whichever takes longer, or they receive a negative COVID-19 test.

• Any person who is exhibiting any of these symptoms, Alberta Health Services suggests they complete the COVID-19 Self-Assessment online tool to determine if they should be tested.

• If you exhibit any of these symptoms, WE REQUEST THAT YOU NOT ATTEND THE SHOW. If you feel unwell at all, you must not attend the show.

DAILY COVID ASSESSMENTS • Daily COVID Assessments are not required

LIABILITY WAIVER • The AKC COVID-19 LIABILITY WAIVER must be signed by all exhibitors and volunteers and presented your

first day at the show. We must have your signed waiver before we issue your admission wrist bands. • Junior Handlers and an accompanying parent must sign with Waiver. • When you arrive for the first time, please fill out the WAIVER DOCUMENT, and bring to the AKC DESK

next to the Show Secretary tent. Do not wait until just before you need to be in the ring with your dog, to get your wristband for the day.

WRIST BANDS • At the AKC Desk, please present your DogShow receipt which confirms your entry & arm-band number

(on an electronic device or printed by you) to receive the wristbands you will need for your entries over the weekend – you will receive the entire set at time of delivering your Liability Waiver, no need to come to the desk each day for a new wristband. DO NOT MISPLACE YOUR WRISTBANDS, NO replacement wrist bands will be issued.

• The wristbands are different colours, have the day of the week printed and can only be used for the day identified. NEW COLOUR DAILY.

• The AKC will refuse entry into the show precincts and rings to anyone without a correct wristband. • Each exhibitor will receive a maximum of ONE wristband only per entry (CKC Conformation Rule 9.1 The

show committee shall provide, without cost, one pass for each dog entered). • Professional Handlers will be given a wrist band each day, along with one for their working

assistants. This will allow the owner (1 entrance) of the dog have a wristband so that they can watch their dog in the ring. All owners must immediately leave the ring area once their dog finishes showing. Owners may return to the field if their dog wins Best of Breed and will be competing in the Group(s) at the designated group time. Should the owner’s dog win the group they will be given a wristband the next day to watch their dog compete in Best in Show or Best Puppy in Show.

• Junior Handlers – will be given a wristband that will allow you to compete in Junior handling, Saturday, July 31, 2021 Conformation Juniors during the noon hour, Sunday, August 1, 2021 Obedience Juniors during the lunch hour. You may have one parent attend ringside with you on these days. If your parent does not have a dog entered, we will provide 1 wristband so that the parent can watch you in the ring.

DIRECTIONS TO THE SHOW GROUNDS

• East on Glenmore Trail – Exit on Ogden Road / 24 Street East Turn left onto 24 Street East Proceed to traffic circle and take the 3rd exit out Proceed to T-intersection and turn right onto Shephard Road, site is ahead on your right hand.

• West on Glenmore Trail – Exit on Ogden Road / 24 Street East Turn right onto 24 Street East Proceed to traffic circle and take the 3rd exit out Proceed to T-intersection and turn right onto Shephard Road, site is ahead on your right hand.

THE SHOW GROUNDS • Exhibitors and dogs entered in a class only on the show fields please. • Exhibition-Only dogs are only permitted in the benching areas or RV parking fields (unless the Exhibition

only dog is being used for Junior Handling Saturday/Sunday). • We encourage individuals to maintain physical distancing where possible. • There will be hand sanitizing stations provided in all areas. • Porta-potties will be situated on the grounds in the RV Parking Section NW side of the field (Field 2 & 3)

and on the NE side of Field 1 with hand sanitizing stations. The Field House has washrooms as well as showers for exhibitor use. Additional washrooms located in the Main Club House.

• There will be NO lost and found. • Judges’ tables and other touch surfaces will be sanitized regularly.

MASKS • Masks are not required on the show grounds. • As a courtesy and out of concern for the well being of our Judges who will face hundreds of people face-

to-face over the weekend, all exhibitors in the conformation ring are required to wear a mask during the close examination of your dog. Face shields will be accepted. The Ring Steward or a Show Official will advise you if the judge does not require this courtesy.

• You may be required to wear a mask while inside the Rugby Union Clubhouse, either for the washrooms, the food concession, or the Health Clinics unless otherwise posted. If you plan to access these amenities, please bring your mask.

PHYSICAL DISTANCING • To encourage and allow for physical distancing, we are providing extra space at the venue and in the

rings. Please avoid encroaching on the person in front of you. • Please do NOT encroach on other areas or rings or under the tents.

CONFORMATION, OBEDIENCE, RALLY-OBEDIENCE • Exhibitors should arrive on the grounds ONE HOUR prior to their scheduled show/trial time. • Stay outside your designated field until 15 minutes before the posted show time for your breed. • 15 minutes prior to your breed judging, go directly to your ring area and stay there until your breed is

called into the ring.

• No X-pens, floor mats or tables will be allowed at ringside or in the holding areas. • Once you have finished showing your breed, you will be required to leave the show field promptly if you

have no other dogs to show within the next 15 minutes. • Exhibition only dogs are not to be on the competition fields at any time – exception is if a Junior Handler

is using an exhibition only dog. • You may return 15 minutes before your next breed or Group judging, etc. • If you are unable to attend/exhibit due to COVID-19 or any other ailment, it is your responsibility to find

an alternative handler for your dog, if you wish your dog to participate. • Rally-Obedience and Obedience trials will be following the current CKC COVID rules and regulations.

BENCHING • No Grass Mats permitted on the fields, this includes the benching areas - please refer further in this

document for move in times, etc. • No tents with floors – This will be STRICTLY enforced • If you are showing more than one dog you may bring a crate to a holding area to confine your dogs while

you wait for your next ring time. This crate must be removed immediately upon completion of your breed judging.

DOG BATHING FACILITIES • The wash bay will be available in 15-minute intervals. The wash tubs will be sanitized hourly.

FOOD • The concession in the Rugby Union Club House will be serving food. There is the possibility that Food

Trucks will also be on the ground, TBD. If available they will be located behind the Hospitality Tent on Field 2.

• FRESH POTABLE WATER IS AVAILABE ON EACH FIELD TO FILL WATER BOTTLES

REFUND POLICY • If the Alberta Kennel Club is required to CANCEL the show due to any Alberta Government, City of

Calgary or Canadian Kennel Club guidelines, policies, or directives, a partial refund of entry fees (less our unrecoverable costs) will be offered; payments for merchandise (RV Parking, on-site benching, and E-catalogues) will be fully refunded. All DogShow.ca service fees are not refundable.

• The AKC will offer a refund of your entry fees if you become ill after the closing date and have a positive COVID-19 test that you will share for the refund.

• If you cannot travel to the show due to a government restriction on travel, entry fees will not be refunded.

• Credit card and Dogshow.ca charges will not be refunded (DogShow.ca policy)

The Alberta Kennel Club is concerned with the welfare of all our judges, exhibitors and volunteers. Please accept our minimal requests for the safety of all.

There can be NO EXCEPTIONS.

There is an express risk that the Exhibitor may be exposed to or infected by the COVID-19 virus.

• If you are unwilling to assume all the risks associated with the shows, do not accept the terms contained herein.

• The Exhibitor expressly and specifically assumes all risk of injury or harm in attendance at the Dog Show events and assumes all responsibility for any, losses, costs and/or damages for any and all injuries suffered by the Exhibitor or to the property of the Exhibitor by any means and howsoever caused.

• The Exhibitor agrees to behave in compliance with the rules and requests set out in the premium list. • The Exhibitor further acknowledges that there may be other hazards and risks that may occur without

warning. Waiver and Release:

• The Exhibitor and his or her heirs, executors, administrators, successors and assigns hereby waive, release, remise and forever discharge the Alberta Kennel Club and their respective assigns, affiliates, insurers, officers, directors, servants, agents, lessors, and employees (collectively the “Released Parties”) of and from all actions, suits, debts, duties, accounts, covenants, contracts, claims and demands whatsoever.

Hold Harmless: • The Exhibitor further agrees that if, despite this Disclaimer the Exhibitor or anyone on the Exhibitor’s

behalf, makes a claim against any of the Released Parties, the Exhibitor WILL INDEMNITY, SAVE AND HOLD HARMLESS EACH OF THE RELEASED PARTIES from any litigation expenses, legal fees, loss, liability, damage or cost which any of the Released Parties may incur as the result of such claim.

• The Exhibitor acknowledges this Disclaimer has been read in full and that the Exhibitor fully and completely understands the terms and conditions contained herein. The Exhibitor further understands that the Exhibitor is giving up and is waiving substantial rights by accepting the terms of this Disclaimer.

Be Like Larry Day - Saturday, July 31, 2021 In August 2020 the Canadian Dog Show World lost it’s most

colourful and wonderful Handler, in any ring, anywhere. Larry, a true sportsman, was always willing to help anyone or give a mini handling lesson on the fly. Larry could be picked out of the crowd in an instant; he was famous for extraverted suits, colourful ties, and his contagious laugh. Dogs loved him, maybe something to do with his famous “crack bait” treats, always available in a pocket and generously shared. Larry was a friend of and volunteer for the Alberta Kennel Club…the RV parking experience will never be quite the same. We invite you to emulate Larry’s zest for the Show and look in your closet to see if there is something there that would be Larry approved. If not, get shopping so you can be Like Larry on Saturday. Smile Like Larry and have a great show and help us celebrate his memory.

Health Testing

OFA Eye Certification Dr. Brian Skorobohach DVM, DACVO Friday, July 30, 2021 9 am - 5 pm

CLINIC IS FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED. NO PRE-REGISTRATION.

Dr. Brian Skorobohach a Board-Certified Veterinary Ophthalmologist, will be performing OFA Eye Exams (previously known as CERF exams), called CAER exam. We will be doing all eye exams online through the OFA CAER online form (https://www.ofa.org/online). If you do not already have an account with the OFA, you will need to set this up (registration is free) and enter all of the information requested. Please have your 6-digit case number ready for each dog for Dr. Brian.

There will be an additional $5 charge for paper forms the day of the clinic. We accept credit cards (VISA and Mastercard) and cash. Please have exact change based on desired procedures.

CAER Exam per dog is $40 Gonioscopy is an additional $80 per dog

Exam is done 20 to 30 minutes after dilating drops are placed on eyes

BEST IN SHOW - Saturday, July 31, 2021 – The Woodward Perpetual Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the winner of Best in Show #1. Possession of the memorial trophy remains with the Alberta Kennel Club.

BEST PUPPY IN SHOW - Monday August 2, 2021 – The Mary Driscoll Perpetual Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the winner of Best Puppy in Show #3. Possession of this memorial trophy remains with the Alberta Kennel Club.

BEST OF BREED, Standard Poodle – Saturday July 31, 2021 Show #1 – The Leslie Potter Perpetual Memorial Trophy. The trophy will be awarded to the winner of Best of Breed. Possession of the memorial trophy remains with the Alberta Kennel Club. The winner will receive a keeper trophy and rosette.

Planning your stay at the Calgary Rugby Union Facility

ANIMALS LEFT IN VEHICLES will be monitored. If animals are in distress due to heat or any other circumstance, the vehicle will be forcibly entered, the animal

recovered and the owner will be subject to penalty under the Animal Protection Act 2(1) (1.1) 2.1©. The AKC will not accept any responsibility for damage to any vehicle entered to remove an animal(s) in distress.

The Alberta Kennel Club is pleased to be holding our show for the first time at the Calgary Rugby Union facility. Holding our event here comes with responsibilities for all of us – volunteers and exhibitors alike.

You are TOTALLY responsible for picking up after your dog. The Calgary Rugby Union and the Alberta Kennel Club have ZERO tolerance for dog droppings on the grounds. Let’s be responsible and set a great example keeping the grounds pristine.

Exhibitors who are found not picking up after themselves will be asked to leave the show immediately.

RV Parking: 1. RV Parking Arrivals – Thursday, July 29, 2021 @ 9 am to 10 pm. THERE ARE NO DAY OF ARRIVAL RV

requests. WE ARE SOLD OUT OF SPOTS FOR THE WEEKEND. Space is very tight, please ensure to stay within your marked RV spot.

2. There are no assigned parking spots; first come, first served

3. If you have prepaid for a spot in our Handicapped area, you MUST provide a valid, government issued handicapped placard, and if you do not have one of these we will have to assign you a space in the parking lot.

4. Motorhome generators must be vented up with an exhaust pipe extension (mandatory, no matter the area).

5. Please ensure GENERATORS ARE OFF between the hours of 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM – this is the designated “quiet time” for our friends and neighbors

6. Complimentary Showers located in the Field House. These are locker rooms, if you are modest, please ensure to bring a bathing suit.

7. There is no overnight tenting or sleeping in vehicles permitted at the Calgary Rugby Unit.

8. No Open Fires of any kind (wood or propane) are permitted on the grounds of the Calgary Rugby Union.

9. Absolutely NO dumping of grey water or sewage on Calgary Rugby Union grounds.

10. No Water & electrical hook-ups are NOT available at the Calgary Rugby Union.

11. All parking is at your own risk: THE ALBERTA KENNEL CLUB IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR WEATHER RELATED DAMAGE TO PERSONAL PROPERTY. PLEASE BE PREPARED FOR UNFORSEEN EVENTS ESPECIALLY WIND AND/OR HAIL.

12. If you have to leave the show grounds, dogs in your care must be moved inside. DOGS MAY NOT BE LEFT UNATTENDED IN ANY OUTDOOR ENCLOSURE. FAILURE TO COMPLY will result in excusal from the show.

13. All Set-ups are required to have a contact phone number posted in case of emergency. Parking:

1. Free parking is available in the lower part of the parking lot off of Shepperd Road, by the Club house and around field 1, no other parking areas are available. No tents may be put around vehicles in the parking lot, if you have not reserved a benching spot there is ample unreserved day benching available where

you can leave your set up.

2. Designated Handicapped parking areas will be available in limited capacity. 3. The Alberta Kennel Club, and the Calgary Rugby Union reserve the right to have vehicles towed

that are in areas other than described, this includes those areas that are designated “No Parking.”

4. The speed limit on the grounds (including the RV Parking area) of the Calgary Rugby Union is 15 km/hour.

5. Any indignities to the Staff of the Calgary Rugby Union or to the volunteers of the Alberta Kennel Club will result in immediate expulsion from the shows without refunds. Thank you for your cooperation!

6. All parking is a privilege at Calgary Rugby Union. Anyone abusing these privileges will be excused immediately from the show, and all future shows on this venue by the parking authorities and/or show superintendent.

Private golf carts are not permitted on any grass areas at any time. Field 2 and 3 Outdoor Reserved Benching:

1. Outdoor Reserved Benching move in – Thursday, August 1, 2021 @ 2 pm If you are not entered until Saturday, you can set up Thursday with everyone else or set up Friday,

July 30, 2021 after 6:00 pm or BIS/BPIS whichever comes first. The days that you do not have an entry not admittance to the Benching is available as a new wrist

band is required each day and wristbands are only available with a day of entry receipt.

2. ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING (Cigarettes or Cannabis) in the benching area or the competition fields at any time.

3. No vehicles allowed on the fields at any time, please ensure you have a cart/trolley to move your items to your reserved benching spot.

4. Dogs are not to be left overnight in outdoor benching spaces.

5. Grass mats and tent bottoms are not permitted in any of the grass benching areas. ALL TENTS MUST BE SECURLEY TIED DOWN AND TOP DROPPED EACH DAY.

6. Generators (civilized ones please, excessively loud generators will not be permitted) are not permitted in the day tenting area, generators must be housed up against the fence line off the grass areas and at no time are to infringe on any space whereby fumes would enter those areas. Please ensure you have a long extension cord if you are using a generator as well as a lock to secure it to the fence (parking lot side).

7. You are responsible for leaving your space as you found it…. CLEAN! Please ensure that you have a rake/tool handy to clean up your area, left behind garbage, dog hair, rubber bands, etc. are not the responsibility of the Alberta Kennel Club Volunteers or the Calgary Rugby Union Personnel to clean up. We thank you for your cooperation!

8. Once the show commences you are welcome to drive up to a designated gate outside of Field 1 only.

9. Pick-up / Drop-off area. This area will be in operation all day. Note that you only have 15 minutes to drop off/pick up, at no time can any traffic blockage occur. Ensure that you have a cart/trolley to move your items onto the field.

10. All outdoor benching must be vacated 1 hour following Best in Show on Monday, August 2, 2021 with spots being raked, swept or vacuumed, all elastic bands and debris must be removed.

11. All Exhibitors are responsible for putting their recyclables, garbage and hair in the largegarbage bins. Please leave your benching areas clean at the end of the show as a courtesy toRugby Union management and the AKC volunteers who run the show.

Unreserved Outdoor Benching: North side of Field 2 and 3 only – available Thursday July 29, 2021 @ 2 pm – area must be left clean of any debris and elastics

• If you are not entered until Saturday, you can set up Thursday with everyone else or set up Friday,July 30, 2021 after 6:00 pm

There is No Security on site over the weekend Ensure all valuables are kept safe and with you not left behind

Because of the format of this year’s show which was planned early in 2021 when the AKC could not predict the restrictions that we would have to work through, the two shows per day provided the best opportunity for us to hold a show not limited in entry numbers. Since there will be 2 Best in Show competitions on Saturday July 31 and Monday August 2, it is possible that a puppy winning Best Puppy in Group the previous day, could age out of the competition on the following day. Unfortunately, we are bound by the CKC Rules should this occur.

CKC 12.2.1 (b) Senior Puppy Class – Dogs nine (9) months of age and under 12 months of age on the day of the show.

Exhibitors please note:

- All Group judging and Best in Show judging will be held in RING #5Individual breeds, dogs and classes will NOT be paged. Exhibitors and handlers with more than one dog must

have an alternate handler available.

- For your convenience, the division of sexes has been carefully tabulated, however the Alberta Kennel Club doesnot assume responsibility for absolute accuracy. The number before each breed is the total number of thatbreed; following the breed is the following division - males - females - special males - special females.

- Dogs must enter the show premises 1 (one) hour prior to the scheduled judging of the breed. Dogs which arenot required for further judging may leave the show grounds after their judging is completed.

- Exhibitors and handlers are solely responsible for having their dogs at ringside at the scheduled time (absentdogs must be allowed for). It is not the responsibility of the Alberta Kennel Club or the ring steward to locatedogs.

- Exhibitors noting possible dog conflicts between Conformation and Obedience and Rally must notify theObedience / Rally-Obedience Chairman, Maureen O’Neil before the start of judging in the ring in question on theday in question. Judges will complete morning assignments before breaking for lunch.
