MANAGER’S NOTES Summer is here, the kids are out of school, the pool is open and the golf course is in great shape. We want

all to enjoy the club and its offerings. While we are all here to have a great time it is important to remember

that there are a few rules that are a little more important than most. One them is to not bring any type of

food or beverages on the club premises. Please read the following rule:

According to State Law, it is illegal to bring alcoholic beverages onto the premises of Cedar Creek Country

Club which is a private club. Premises are defined as all of Cedar Creek Country Club property including but

not limited to the clubhouse, swimming pool, tennis courts, and golf course. is the policy of Cedar Creek

Country Club to abide by the law and to monitor and control any violation of this law. To this end, the

following policy is put into effect as of this date.

The key to practice is making sure that quality comes first rather than the quantity of time spent.

One of the best drills you can do to help lower your scores when you have very little time to practice is to get

on the putting green. We all know that putting is one of the, if not THE, most important parts of the game. By

spending 5 minutes putting from 2-3 feet from the hole, you could finally break through from scores in the

100s, 90s and even 80s.

Putting 10-20 times in a row from 2-3 feet can help you in several ways:

First, short distance putts help you to control the length of your putting stroke. Making this small stroke can

help to minimize the amount of body movement you have during the stroke. It also has the potential to reduce

the habit to ‘look up’ that many players suffer from when wanting to watch the ball roll. Due to the short

length of the putt, the ball has typically dropped in the hole before the player can ‘look up’.

And finally, these short length putts are what can significantly increase your confidence throughout your entire

game. By hearing and seeing the ball go in the hole several times in a row, your brain begins to enter ‘auto

pilot’ mode. Rather than entering negative thoughts over putts, your brain recalls the senses that it experienced

during the drill and helps your body to carry out that confident motion during your putting stroke.

MANAGER’S NOTES, COURSE & TOURNAMENTS

From The Pro Shop

Superintendent’S note

The month of May has also blessed your course

with needed rainfall.

Last month your golf course staff fertilized your

entire course, aerifed green’s putting surfaces with

1/2” hollow coring tines, while continuing to

maintain and set up your course for Monday

tournaments and regular day to day play.

June looks to be just as busy with warmer

temperatures on the way. Bringing more grass to

cut, more verticutting of the putting surfaces, more

tournaments and OH YES LETS NOT FORGET,

another greens aerification on June 26th and 27th.

Please mark your calendars!

Your golf course is in great shape, grab your clubs

and come join in the fun!

Our 2017 Member/Guest tournament is June 22-25 this

year. To date, we already have 39 teams signed up to

play. I believe that this year’s mobile Pro Shop, provided

by Callaway, will greatly enhance this year’s

tournament. Please call the pro shop @ 903-498-8419

ASAP if you plan to play.

We have a very fun and exciting Junior Golf Program

scheduled for June 13st – 16th. The cost is $100 for

9:00am -11:45am each day, with lunch provided

following the clinic. We would love to have your kids,

grandkids and their friends participate. Anyone ages

7-17 may participate. Please call the pro shop @

903-498-8419 to sign up.

MEN AND WOMEN’S GOLF ASSOCIATION Greetings from the WGA:

You may have noticed that all of the WGA members have had continuous smiles on their faces lately. This is

due to the fantastic response we had for our Mother’s Day Raffle. Not only did we present David Cary, our

Grand Prize winner, with $200.00, roses and candy but we also were able to present two more

winners….Charlie Thies and Bob Hill…with a dozen roses. We want to express our deep appreciation to all

who purchased tickets for this fundraiser. And thanks also to all WGA members for working so hard to sell

these tickets!

We are also very pleased with the great turnout for the Guys & Gals tournament. We had sixteen couples

participate and twelve couples won prizes. We look forward to another successful G&G tournament in

October.

Hope you have noticed that the flower baskets outside the Club have been refurbished by the WGA. Thanks to

Helen Fowler and Roberta Oxford for taking on this project.

The popular Steak & Beans Tournament sponsored by the WGA is coming up on June 10 & 11. Randy and

Stephen will be our Captains. A signup sheet is available in the Pro Shop. This is always such a fun

tournament so please come join us for this event.

We are very proud to announce that our WGA Scholarship Fund has awarded three deserving Seniors $500.00

each to be sent to the college or university they will attend in the Fall. Congratulations to Sarah Farley –

Kemp, Macy Brockman – Mabank and Haley Mashburn- Mabank. We wish you good luck as you enter this

new exciting phase in your life! These awards are made possible by the generous donations we receive on the

8th Hole during the Member/Guest tournament. Our WGA volunteers will be on hand again this year to ask/

accept these donations on Friday, June 23rd. We hope that all the players in this years tournament will, once

again support this very worthy cause.

We would like to welcome Susan Wohlfeld, our new member, to the WGA. We are so happy to have you join

us!

Hope to see you around the course.

And suddenly, it is Summer! May passed way too fast. The Memorial Day Weekend was so much fun. We

had a great time with Hack and Scratch, the Luau and as always, Whiskey Pants never disappoints. We are

looking forward to June, with all the events scheduled. We are gearing up for what will be a wonderful

Member/Guest Weekend.

We are finalizing a few changes to the menu for the Summer. Look for a couple of fresh new salads,

sandwiches and entrees that are light and tasty. Our Friday Buffets will offer more variety in June, so watch

your email for our offerings.

On the Evening of June 9th, the Club will be closed for the evening. Please make a note of this. Kitchen

service will cease at 3pm so we can get ready to host this event. Thanks in advance.

Please remember that no outside food or drinks are allowed at the pool. We will again have a Pool Menu of

offering for our pool guests, and you can always come into the Lounge to enjoy the complete menu. As it was

last year, service to the pool will end one hour prior to the posted pool hours.
