Guided Rehearsals/PracticesAll musicians and bands need to practice, and being in a new or budding band is full ofchallenges, not least working creatively with other musicians. We are offering guided rehearsalsintended to help ensembles get the best out of working with eachother. From structuring songsto good rehearsal practice, a professional tutor will be there to guide and support you.Getting Musicians in a room together is great, knowing where to start and how to work togetherto get the best out of them..... that’s being a good band.To enquire about availibility or to book a slot for guided rehearsals please contact usvia e-mail - buddy@musicworkshop.org.uk

FOLK AT THE OAKFolk music embodies all the social and emotional strength of music, if you’ve ever seen the infectious way a folk jam can spread and grow you’ll know. Strings, guitars, percussion, youname it. Our strings tutor Katie will be leading a merry band over 2 SEPERATE 2-HOURREHEARSALS on consecutive days. Open to anybody of any age and almost any instrument.After the second session will be the opportunity to take what you’ve worked on as a group andshare it with friends and family at an OPEN SESSION OF LIVE MUSIC at music venue The Royal Oak in Bath.(please note this workshop is not suitable for pianists unfortunately)

PIANO RECORDINGThere’s no sound quite as evocative as passionately tickled ivories.Book onto our Piano recording sessions for the opportunity to playand record yourself with expert guidance and professionalrecording equipment. Whether it’s a classical piece, a contemporary song, or an original composition, Music Workshopwill work with the students as they experience playing andrecording piano in a professional studio environment. Music tutorsand producers will be on hand to get the best out of your big take.Students will recieve a finished MP3 of their recording to use forpromo, demos, portfolios, or maybe just to remind you how goodyou sound playing that song you love.

THURSDAY 27th JULY & THURSDAY 17th AUGUST (am/pm)£60* (1 hour recording session) - price includes professional editing and mixing down of track.

VOCAL MASTERCLASSLee Risdale, vocal coach and author of ‘The Complete Vocalist’ willbe conducting a vocal masterclass, giving singers the opportunity todiscover his secrets. Join us for two hours of top drawer stewardshipas Lee covers Focus and cognitive behaviours, specific voice training techniques - such as range extension, and excercises for strength and flexibility, as well as expression, interpretation,and the ‘soul’. This group workshop is a must for singers of any level.

MONDAY 31st JULY & FRIDAY 18th AUGUST (10am - 12pm)£35* (2 hour workshop)

The ability to compose is the most creative and exciting part of music, but it can also be one ofthe most daunting. Session musicians are some of the best in the world, they will arrive at astudio and be asked to compose a part on their instrument for a song, and then record it.Our session skills workshop is split into two...Firstly, students will recieve 1-2-1 professional drum tutelage and guidance in how to BUILDTHEIR OWN DRUM SCORE, how to create complimentary soundscapes and use varioustechniques in the creative process. Secondly, students will have the chance to work with a production specialist to learnhow to RECORD THEIR INSTRUMENT, and some of the techniques used in ‘post-production’.Once completed students will recieve a FINISHED MP3 of their work.

VOCAL RECORDINGSinging is something we believe all of us would proabably-not-so secretly wish to be able todo, singing live on stage is another thing, and recording vocals in a studio another thing again.Work with professional musicans to gain confidence and recieve performance advice,good mic technique and some recording tips. Work with a producer to record a vocal of yourown... Ever wanted to know how you might sound on a track...? Have a song vocal you wouldlike to record? Here’s your chance to make it happen.

STUDIO DRUM VIDEOSOnline Presence and video is an increasingly important part of themodern music landscape. Using crisp HD video and professionalrecording equiptment we are offering students the chance toRECORD A STUDIO QUALITY VIDEO peforming any song of their choice. With professional support and our resident soundengineer Tom, We will upload your video to YouTube via ourchannel, which can be used for reference, as demo forapplications to further education, or for promoting yourself. In anincreasingly visual world, understanding the relationship betweenmusic and video is more pertinent than ever.

THURSDAY 3rd AUGUST & THURSDAY 24th AUGUST (am/pm)£60* (30 minute recording session) - price includes extensive editing of audio and video.

GUITAR MASTERCLASSCraig Sutton, better known as THE FLAMENCO THIEF has toured andplayed in over 40 countries all over the world including festivals inMorrocco and gigs in the Balkans. He has been supported by NMEand the BBC and delivers a unique blend of gypsy-jazz, rumba andska fused together with intricate Flamenco guitar techniques. During the masterclass he will discuss and share his techniques, education,and experience as well as give a live performance demo. This is a must see for anybody interested in pursuing a career making music.

FRIDAY 28th JULY & TUESDAY1st AUGUST (10am - 12pm)£40* (2 hour group masterclass)

INTRODUCING THE DJ!One of the most succesful forms of musician in recent years, good DJ’ingis a skill that’s for sure. DJ and sound engineer Tom Hickman will takeyou through the basics of the turntables, mixing, and beat-matching.These 1-2-1 sessions are ideal for new or budding DJ’s, or evensomeone who just wants to try something different in their musical diet.
