Rushmoor Get Cycling

Rushmoor Borough Council’s own free volunteer–led community cycling project

Age: All ages

Where: The Rushmoor Community Stadium, Cherrywood Road, Farnborough, GU14 8UD

Three routes on offer:A three-mile route, perfect for younger children entirely on off-road cycle paths.

An eight-and-a-half mile route taking in some lovely off-road sections, including some bits suitable for teaching mountain biking skills.

All activities need to be pre-booked unless stated otherwise

A ten-mile route for those looking for a bit more exercise and adventure.

Aldershot Park

Queen Elizabeth Park and play area

A large, open area with sports pitches, a café, a fishing lake, an open play area with climbing, swinging and balancing equipment. Aldershot Park is situated at the end of Guildford Road, next to the Aldershot Pools and has a range of sports facilities and clubs based in and around it.

Both the River Blackwater and the Blackwater Valley Path pass along the southern end of the site.

A 24-acre woodland park, popular with dog walkers, joggers and cyclists. Ideal for local families to enjoy the natural setting.

Exciting timber adventure-style play facility, suitable for all ages.

The play area also includes climbing boulders to challenge older children.

The entrances and car parks are in Cabrol Road and Farnborough Road.

King George V Playing Fields

Recreation ground and large exciting play area in south Farnborough.

The play area is stimulating, challenging and adventurous and caters for all ages and abilities. There is something for the whole family.For the older children, there is moving, dynamic play equipment.

Entrances on Sycamore Road and The Grove. There is a large car park on Sycamore Road close to the children’s playground.

Municipal Gardens

Municipal Gardens is a traditional Victorian-style garden, five minutes walk from Aldershot town centre. The main entrance to the park is in Grosvenor Road. There is a play area suitable for children up to the age of 12 years, which includes multi-play equipment and swings.

There is a new AdiZone (multi-use games area)complete with Olympic branding. The AdiZone is suitable for football, hockey handball, cricket and skateboarding.

Rowhill Nature Reserve

A 55-acre nature reserve on the edge of Aldershot and the source of the River Blackwater. Rowhill Nature Reserve covers 55 acres on the Aldershot-Farnham border.

It has mostly mixed deciduous woodland and working coppice.

There are paths throughout the reserve and a trail for people with special needs via Parkland Grove (off Weybourne Road).

The field centre and car park are at the top of Cranmore Lane.

Southwood Woodland Blackwater Valley

An area of 80 acres of woodland in Farnborough,Southwood Woodland is popular with families, offering a natural environment for walking and cycling.

Car parking for the woodland is at the end of Kennels Lane.

The Southwood Woodland group runs work parties on the fourth Sunday of every month from 10.30am - 3.30pm.

The Blackwater Valley is maintained as an open space along the borders of Berkshire, Hampshire and Surrey.

It runs for approximately 30 km, from the source of the River Blackwater at Rowhill Nature Reserve at Aldershot in the south,northwards to Swallowfield where the river joins the River Whitewater and then the Loddon. The Loddon eventually flows into the River Thames near Reading
