Mixville Parking Permit Effective May 29 - September 6, 2021 Mixville Park is open to the public Monday-Sunday from 7:00am to sunset. Park features include a playground, basketball, bocce and sand volleyball courts, hiking trails, fishing ponds and a beach for swimming at your own risk (no lifeguards on duty). A parking pass is required from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day. Walk-ins are always welcome at no charge. Mixville Adventure Camp: Sun Fun Max: 25 Come join our exciting summer camp featuring one-stop camping for age 4 thru grade 7! Sun Fun and Sassacus will both be held at Mixville from 9:00am-3:30pm with extended hours (additional fee) available from 7:00am-6:00pm! Sun Fun (age 4 - grade K) also has a half-day option. STEM: Guided Nature Walks Min: 6 / Max: 15 CT STEM Academy will be guiding these nature walks that include: scavenger hunts and nature bingo to identify local plants, animals, rocks and minerals, observation-based discussions of ecosystems, food chains and webs, animal adaptations and life cycles, identifying dangers in nature, how to spot poison ivy, avoid ticks, limit mosquitoes and stay away from snakes, essential skill how-tos: build a shelter, filter water for drinking, find edible plants, and navigate with and without a compass, photography - using your phone or camera to capture nature's beauty, and socially distanced activities. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear for hiking on uneven terrain. Bring a water bottle and apply sunscreen and bug spray before arriving. July 20 Water Bottle Toss Challenge: Participants will test a variety of bottles by filling them with water and tossing or flipping them to determine which bottle of theirs has the highest success rate. July 27 Fidget Spinner Challenges: Participants will develop by conducting experiments on a spinning technique that they develop with a team. Participants will be observing human error and spin speed while recording and comparing spin times. August 3 Race Car Challenges: Participants will create race cars using a variety of materials, including straws, peppermints and KNEX. August 10 Roller Coasters: Participants will envision and design a paper roller coaster testing out their ideas on a rubber roller coaster track. Basketball Clinic Min: 10 / Max: 30 For 2021 the Summer Basketball Clinic will be held outdoors on the basketball court at MacNamara Park. In the Southern Connecticut Conference (SCC), Warburton’s Rams have won 6 SCC Tournament Championships, and won or shared 10 SCC Regular Season Championships. Warburton’s Lady Rams played in the 2012 Class L State Championship Game and have also made four state semi-final and eight state quarter-final appearances.
