Let’s Take Tea Shall We?
“Let’s Take Tea”, this phrase can be taken quite literally and refers to brewing and sharing a cup
of tea with someone but it also refers to tea as a meal. In the north of England, Scotland, Wales
and Northern Ireland “Tea” refers to the main evening meal. “High Tea” is an early evening meal
eaten between 5 and 7 pm and would be
followed by a larger meal later in the evening.
“Low Tea”, or “Afternoon Tea”, is a light snack
eaten between 2 and 5 pm, typically
consisting of sandwiches. Interestingly, the
use of “Low” and “High” referred to the height
of the table where tea was taken. While
“taking tea” habits have changed over the
years one thing is for sure, here at Dollies we
enjoy your company and it is our pleasure to
serve you no matter what you wish to call it.
Hope to see you soon! - Amy

Wildflower Tea
He brewed his tea in a blue china pot, poured it into a chipped white cup with forget-me-nots
on the handle, and dropped in a dollop of honey and cream. He sat by the window, cup
in hand, watching the first snow fall. “I am,” he sighed deeply, “contented as a clam. I am a most happy man.”
