In 2017, over 7000 teams from throughout the USA participated in our area tournaments. In 2018 we will offer over 550 tournaments in 26 states. MAYB is now one of the largest organizations of its type in the USA and continues to expand rapidly each season. Program: MAYB tournaments are unique in many ways. Participating teams are set up by the grade level a player was in during the 2017- 2018 school year. MAYB offers divisions for 3rd -12th grade boys’ and girls’ teams at all events, 1st/2nd grade divisions will be offered at National Tournaments. All players are eligible to participate. We strive to provide a competitive environment for all teams and players to improve their skills. Teams have found MAYB to be a very affordable option for summer participation and skill development. Our five-scheduled game guarantee at each tournament assures a player a minimum of a 20 game summer season in only 4 weekends. Pool play and bracketed tournaments are used to group teams by similar talent. Another unique feature of MAYB is that most area tournaments are locally hosted. Booster clubs, school programs and teams, recreation centers, and various community organizations host the events and use the proceeds within the local community. MAYB is proud of the fact we have been able to help many programs throughout our operation area provide services they may not have been able to afford otherwise. MAYB does reserve the right to combine age groups if necessary at specific tournaments. A team will never be asked to play-up more than one grade level ahead of their division. What is MAYB? Mid America Youth Basketball was formed by a group of high school coaches for high school programs. For 25 years, MAYB has attempted to provide a maximum amount of court time in a competitive setting for kids interested in developing and testing their basket- ball skills. We attempt to work closely with school programs to develop their feeder programs from 3rd grade through high school. Many successful programs in several states have made great use of the MAYB program. It has been a great experience to watch many great teams and players come through our system over the years. 1. TOURNAMENT SELECTION 2018

Benefits: The benefits to each player in MAYB are great. Besides the opportunity to improve basketball skills in a highly competitive setting, all players interact with kids from throughout the Midwest. Exposure to college coaches for players with limited re-sources is another big benefit. Many excellent teams compete in our tournaments, so players can compete against the best of the best. Above all else, the chance to have fun and play lots of basketball attracts a growing number of players each year.

Competition: MAYB is a competitive environment. Our goal is competitive games for all. We feel playing good competition is the best way to get better. We do not feel that losing is a negative thing when trying to improve. How coaches and parents deal with it is the key. There will be games that are blowouts. There will be good teams. Find the positives and work to improve. The next game or next year you may be the ones blowing people out. Competition is not a negative. How people deal with it can be. We want to be a benefit to all that choose to play. Only one team can win but often it is the losing team that learns the most and improves.

Coaches/Practices/Insurance:We do not recruit our teams or coaches, but we do have some ex-cellent coaches working with our teams. Teams are not organized or regulated by MAYB. We provide sites for tournaments and liabili-ty insurance for our facilities. MAYB does not provide insurancefor team practices and travel.Area Directors Needed:MAYB is always looking for hardworking, responsible individuals to serve as area directors for our organization.
