BCSO schools recognize2017 graduatesSubmitted agate

Bethel Baptist School graduatedBryanna Anderson and JosephShihady II on May 18. PastorRussell Ellis was the commencementspeaker highlighting II Kings 13:14-19 in his address entitled “YourArrow: God’s Will for Your Life.” Theclass verse was Isaiah 26:3-4.

Cozaddale Baptist Academy hadfive students walk on May 26. JasonStone, Lily Hall (salutatorian),Hannah Chittum (valedictorian),Rachel Sage and Chyanne Daviswere addressed by Daniel Shock whobrought the message, “Don’t Ever GiveUp!” The class verse was Hebrews6:1a.

Elizabeth Garren was FayetteChristian School’s lone graduate.

The school’s ceremony was held onMay 26. The BCSO’s legislativedirector, Izaac VanderSchel, gave thecommencement address. Garrenplans to attend Waynesburg StateUniversity in the fall where she willstudy forensic science.

Fifteen students from HeritageChristian School (Brooklyn)graduated on May 26. Dr. Al Stone,senior pastor at Bible Baptist Church(St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada) andpresident of Bearing Precious Seed, wasthe featured speaker. MadelineBorke, Joseph Brown, Sarah Green(salutatorian), Hayden Hoffman,Karley Lawn and Sharon Miller willall study at Pensacola ChristianCollege (PCC) in the fall. AlaynaKlemenc (valedictorian) has

Dr. David Shumate addressed ninegraduates at Heritage ChristianSchool (Findlay) on May 21. Hereferenced I Peter 1:1-9 in a messageentitled “More Precious than Gold.”Students who walked include BethanyBerry, Eliese Gulley, Joe Oestreich,Megan Ridenour, JonathanSheppard, Evan Trantham, AndrewVanDenBerghe (valedictorian),Nydia Velasquez (salutatorian) andElianna Wright.

Sarah Pettigrew represented LimaChristian Academy as its lonegraduate on May 26. The graduationservice was a vesper-like program thatfeatured various musical groups and aspeech by Pettigrew.

Mentor Christian School graduatedseven students on May 26 with PastorMike Goldfuss giving the

commencement address. MCS’s class of2017 includes: Kiah Frank, CarissaGoldfuss, Sam Hixson, MadelineHurst, Bob Marotta, Jarrett Ryan andEric Seitz. Frank, Hurst and Seitz wereall named co-valedictorians. The classverse was Proverbs 19:21.

Pastor Steve Smith addressed TempleChristian Academy’s (Fremont) onlygraduate, Bob Gray Simmons, on June4. Smith shared a message entitled,“Sowing and Reaping” from Matthew13:18-23.

Temple Christian Academy(Howard) had four students graduateon May 31. Former senior pastor ofMount Vernon Baptist Temple, BillFennell, addressed the class. DrewFennell and Jackie Hale will attendPCC this fall, while Bethany Davis hascommitted to Cedarville. Valedictorian,Tim Noble, will travel the countryperforming in piano concerts.

Pastor Aaron Samples spoke during thecommencement ceremony at VictoryChristian School on May 23. AlexisWilliams and Anna Thompsonrepresented VCS’s class of 2017.

Williams has plans to attend CrownCollege of the Bible this fall.

Cassandra Garcia, TannerKnepp, Kenneth (Guy) Lance(salutatorian), Amber Lowe,Jessica McCombs (valedictorian),Rebecca Stoner and HannaStoner graduated from WaysideChristian School (Bucyrus) onMay 27. Ken Lance, father of Guy,gave the commencement addressentitled, “Running an Approved Race.”The class verses were Philippians2:3-4. Of WCS’s seven graduates,five graduated with honors andthree were Honor Societygraduates.

Zanesville Christian Schoolrecognized its only graduate onMay 26. Lana Howell, whograduated with a 4.0 GPA, willattend PCC seeking a dualconcentration in Piano Perfomanceand English. Pastor Chris Browngave the commencement addressentitled, “Retaining Wisdom” from ofProverbs 3:1-2.

Students from Buckeye Christian SchoolOrganization (BCSO) competed in the 40th annualAmerican Associations of Christian Schools (AACS)National Competition held at Bob Jones Universityin Greenville, S.C. on April 4-6, 2017. Schoolsrepresenting BCSO were Carroll County ChristianAcademy, Heritage Christian School(Brooklyn), Heritage Christian School(Findlay), Licking County Christian Academy,Mentor Christian School, Victory Christian

BCSO finishes 11that AACS NationalCompetition

School, Wayside Christian School, and ZanesvilleChristian School. The BCSO finished in 11th place with20 points.

Approximately 1,800 students and sponsors from 33states participated in the AACS National Competition,after having captured top honors in their statecompetitions. The students– representing over 200Christian high schools– competed in 76 categories in thefive basic areas of Bible, music, speech, art, andacademics.

The Bible competition included Bible quiz teams,preaching, and teaching. Academic competition includedacademic testing and a science fair. Music studentschallenged each other in solo and group competitionsfor both vocal and instrumental music. Speechcontestants participated in such categories as debate,dramatic interpretation, original oratory, acting, plusother categories. Art students displayed their pieces forthe art contest.
