Summertime. More time to do More.
Ahhh, the lazy hazy days
of summer are here. The
hot shining sun, dripping
ice cream cones and the
sweet anticipation of
vacation. You can help
CJE’s residents and clients
also experience the joys of
summer by taking them
into the courtyards of their
residences or serving them
an ice cold treat, and
sharing stories of their
favorite vacations and
summer pastimes. If you
are a current CJE volunteer
and would like to spend
more time with our resi-
dents and clients, they
would greatly appreciate
this. If you are not a CJE
volunteer, please consider
helping our seniors experience
summer as it is meant to be.
We appreciate you and thank
you.

The Sound of Music --The Weinberg Songsters
To spread the joy of
their love of music, a
married couple
residing at Weinberg
began the Weinberg
Songsters several years
ago. The choral group
consists of Weinberg
residents who rehearse
weekly in preparation
for annual recitals.
Volunteering at Wein-
berg for the past
eight years, Nancy
Himmelstein has faith-
fully led the Songsters
through a variety of
classic favorites for
the past couple years.
Under Nancy’s
direction, the Song-
sters has grown in size
to nearly 30 members
strong. On any given
Thursday, you will
hear the 5th floor of
Gidwitz Place
resonating with the
sound of their voices
united in song.

“Once a teacher, al-
ways a teacher. After
retiring from teaching
Language Arts to 6th
graders, I wanted to
share my passion and
time with older adults.
I knew the Weinberg
residents who had
formed the Songters
group. They invited me
to join as their volun-
teer director. I was
hooked. The music
coming to life through
their voices brings me
much satisfaction and
enjoyment. I believe I
get more out of this
experience than they
do! ”
