DESCRIPTION

Welcome to SUMMER 2015 here at The Old Market, Hove. Once the May festivals draw to a close, Summer tends to be a quieter season for The Old Market, but there’s still a great of shows and events on offer throughout June, July and August, including: KRAKEN and NAUTILUS; ORCHESTRA OF SAMPLES; THE OLD MARKET PRESENTS; TOM'S EDINBURGH COMEDY PREVIEWS; FLYAWAY KATIE; and much more. This season in addition to our core programme we’re also providing space for artists and companies to create and develop new work, and there’ll be opportunities for audiences to enjoy previews of the results.

In August 2013, New Mutiny stormed Edinburgh Fringe with this explosive one hour production. The Times called it a “fizzling adaptation... Shakespeare for the OMG generation? Yes, yes, a thousand times yes, when it is as good as this,” With a beautiful original score composed by the cast, and a unique framing to this classic tale, this is a truly magical introduction to Shakespeare for children, schools, and families.

This Summer at The Old Market, the company will develop the show further, ahead of an Autumn run.

Circa69 is working with Amoeba Design and Amsterdam Film Academy on a new theatre piece for the Oculus Rift virtual reality platform. The work is funded by Arts Council England and LDD Research Group with additional support from Cambridge Junction.

TOM’s Bar

TOM’s Bar is an important part of The Old Market, and we don’t like to think of it as ‘a run-of-the-mill, pricey theatre bar’. As such, our prices equal or better those of other local bars, our service is always personal, and unlike most, we promise to stay open after your show.

We’re proud to serve a great range of high quality refreshments. Welcoming staff serve a range of wines, draft beers, spirits, ciders and snacks.

TOM’s Bar also provides an intimate setting for smaller events, and for show previews too exclusive for the Main House next door.

We look forward to seeing you at TOM’s Bar soon!
