GLEAN expeditions bring young people to remote and special areas of the world where they meet interesting people and spend time exploring a topic of choice, primarily through interviewing and observing others and participating in community activities. All of these can be wonderful experiences, but this type of trip also has its challenges: being far from home, eating unfamiliar foods, experiencing extreme forms of weather, being with a small group for an extended period of time, and not having the conveniences of home.
