Wharton Undergraduate Class of 2016 – Rising Seniors

Student responses were collected using an online survey between August 2015 and December 2015. Of the 657 Wharton

seniors scheduled to graduate during the 2015 – 2016 academic year, 332 completed the survey (51%% response rate). Of

those, 321 students indicated they worked during the summer (317 full-time, 3 part-time, and 1 didn’t specify number of hours

worked) while 11 pursued other activities.

We saw a larger percentage of students

(17.2%) enter consulting during the summer

of 2015, up from 12.6% in 2014. Also

popular for summer 2015 (as in previous

years) were various areas of finance

including investment banking, investment

management, private equity, securities

research, sales & trading, and internal

financial planning and analysis.

Fewer students pursued marketing intern-

ships (7.2%, down from 9.9% in 2014).

Average monthly compensation across all
