Sabrina fielded an 8 at Shrewsbury Regatta in May, as you can see they were involved in an epic race over 1000 metres! The result was a victory for Sabrina over a crew of young guns from School-Just as well it was not over 1050 metres! Congratulations to the crew of- J Griffin (G 94-99) R Hawley-Jones (G 05-10) J Burbidge (G 91-96) J Lewis-Booth (M 82-87) A Hagger (PH 86-91) I Dick (SH 92-97) P Wood (M 92-97) C Randall (O 07-12). 3 medals in what was always going to be a tricky year. J16B settled for bronze, whilst the A & B J15 crews both won silver,
so exciting for the future of RSSBC (J14’s were blown off on
the Friday)
PRE 1952 CREW RE-UNION Sabrina now has a clubroom, the Bowring Room, of which it can be proud. This in turn has provided the opportunity for the Club to host a series of Reunion Lunches, the first of which was held on Saturday 11 May 2013. Those members entering the School on or before 1952 were invited, together with their partners, and there was a good gathering for drinks and a three course lunch above the Pugh Boathouse. Conspicuous among those attending were five members of the successful 1955 crew, winners of the Princess Elizabeth Cup in that year. The Headmaster welcomed the guests, reporting that the number of boys and now girls rowing had never been higher. Shrewsbury Regatta provided continuous entertainment during the afternoon. Further Reunion Lunches will be held in future years. The dates of those taking place next year are expected to be 10 and 11 May, although all those members in the next age group to be invited will be contacted directly by the President as soon as these arrangements are confirmed.
