Lamar Elementary: Shana Behling This year we started a walking program for all 2nd through 5th grade students. It has been a huge success. Students are excited to come to school and walk with their friends. It gives them a chance to socialize and exercise. The nurse and the PE teacher work together to make this happen. All grade levels teach the concept of Slow, Go, and Whoa foods. One example is in Kindergarten it is reinforced through their station activities. Students must make a grocery list containing one of each and then choose those foods from the store set up in the room. Once they do that, they must also make a grocery list of a healthy lunch without any Whoa foods. Students then choose the items from the store set up in the room. For both activities, once they have their foods selected, they check in with the teacher to show what they have selected. We had a local dentist come in and speak to our Kinder - 2nd grade students about good oral hygiene. We are also showing a film regarding puberty to 4th grade and a different film for 5th grade. We will be celebrating Healthy Texas Week April 8-14 by having the school nurse read statements over the announcements regarding healthy choices such as drinking water, exercising, sleeping habits, food choices, etc...

County Line Elementary: Kalisha Wenzel Our campus had our CATCH kickoff in October during TEAM TIME. During team time our entire campus comes together in the gym. At our kickoff some of our students performed a CATCH song. I sent you a video of the song earlier in the year. We also send out a CATCH calendar every month. During TEAM TIME once a month our school NURSE talk about CATCH. The students turn in the CATCH calendar every month completed signed by parents and we have a drawing during team time for a prize. This is to promote healthy habits at home and at school. Our school Nurse also taught dental health lessons for every kindergarten student. During February dental health month students who turned in the CATCH calendar with 10 or more checks received a toothbrush during team time. Our school counselor also teaches personal safety with every child at CLE. Our CATCH committee has also provided lesson plans for our teachers. CATCH bulletin board in nurse's office . Cafeteria monitors recognize students eating healthy each day. PE teacher -- health/CATCH lessons with every child at CLE. 2013-2014 CATCH PLAN DISPLAY CASE to promote CATCH in the fall to parents and students. OCTOBER KICKOFF -- CATCH COMMITTEE will decide skit...song??? CATCH committee will meet as needed to add or change activities. Healthy Plate for all students -- paper plates will be passed out to every child for them to take home and draw on...will hang in the cafeteria to promote healthy eating habits. CATCH calendar will continue, but plan to add grade level or classroom challenges and provide rewards for the classes that bring the most calendars back.

Seele Elementary: Paula Goles Our campus has a CATCH phrase everyday on our morning announcements. We also have food labeled in the cafe" with go, slow and whoa! We have a wonderful walking trail and I have tried to get teacher, parent volunteers and anyone on board with getting the students up and moving before school, but our efforts have not worked. It seems really simple; the morning duty teacher takes the students on the trail or the playground. We are working on walking trail for next year and maybe morning exercise on the announcements.

Memorial Elementary: Meredith Llerena Continue to have weekly nurse news with the ME news crew.

Recess games with an adult.

After school soccer activities.

Walnut Springs Elementary: Nancy Wierman Fall (usually in early October); Family Fitness Fun Day: This activity encourages the students to invite as many people as they can to come and walk/run with them

during their PE time. At the end of their class time when points are tallied and the trophy handed out to the winner, we talk about how it is important to exercise as a family.

Spring (usually in April): Family Fitness Fun Day: same as the above

I also work the lunch duty on a daily basis and talk to students about making healthy choices for their lunches. Example, why (2) bags of chips consist of empty calories, etc.
