Increasing the rail kiraya is not only the solution to overcome from operating cost.

Something should be beyond the profitability Rail kiraya should be reduce to 50%

Thinking IRCTC / ministry of railways should take some good step to find out alternatesource of income to reduce rail kiraya .

Issue : All Senior Citizen got Upper and middle seat in booking it is drawback or incapability of railway

software or insensitivity of Railway /IRCTC . There should be some penalty clause for railway also ..........9

Dear Customer, Please note that your reservation request is processed by the centralized

Passenger Reservation System (PRS) of Railways and allotment of accommodation is done by

the System without any manual intervention. The berths are allotted based on the system logic,

depending on availability at that point of time. Further the reservation through the Internet isbeing done against the general quota and specific accommodation is not earmarked for the

purpose of Internet reservations. Please note that at the time of journey you can request the

fellow-passengers for change of the seats. It is not possible to change the berth after booking.

Kindly note that according to Railway Rules SS Quota will be applied if there is only one

Senior Citizen(of the age 45 and above for females and 60 and above for males) in one

transaction and seats will be allotted according to it. SS Quota will not be considered for the

Advertisement on rail coaches inside & outside. Frame need to be established.

Advertisement on railway station and all platforms. Ex. Hotels & tourist places,

education, food chain, insurance etc.

Modernization of railway platform & stations like metro rail station.

Increasing the competition in mobile /telecom / internet in each platform of

station, all service provider need to be invited to establish their setup for

increasing quality of service in public benefit. Govt. income increase from leaseon these services.

Increasing the competition in food chain and restaurant inside the platform or

railway station- all big food chain supplier need to be invite like Tata, Birla,

Reliance, Haldiram, Agarwal sweets, Nestle, Mahindra, Pepsi, IRCTC, many

more dedicated Indian companies for India economy growth . To reduce black

money all transaction should be bar coded or computerize with pan / tin Number

associated in all food corners.

Ratio of food chain corners at least 8-10 per platform.

To increase the tourist special coach for NRI, outside country people, ticket

should be always available .To promote tourist places in train way. International

standard should be follow in these coaches.

Special trains for easy to reachable on tourist places, complete package.

All railway station should be like small mall all facility should be available like

movie, food cloth, may be they can restrict /separate the way to go inside the real

rail platform to maintain the security. Government will get lot for income on lease

concept and taxes. Public will get healthy environment and services.

. To increase the opportunity for improvement all platform and trains should be

aim for ISO 9001- improvement ideas like station train route LED display, Station

advertisement Information Led display (Benchmarking Delhi metro trains)

Free internet in railway train & platform.

To increase the income for government body they need to launch the IPO for

establishing Railway mall, food chain, and alternate 2 extra rail track one for

goods and one for public interest.

Holi places like Varanasi, Haridwar, vashnavdevi , dwarka, maihar, ujjain...manymore looking for special dedicated trains and special rules for senior citizen

above 55 years.

Tourist places like Tajmahal, Goa, Manali, shimla, masouri, jaipur many more

looking for special trains and extra coaches for general public .

Benefit:

General public will also get some assurance.

Quality of services will increase.

Tractability of public interest identifies.

Government income will increase

Tractability of income will increase in this food chain area, advertisement,

Public will get better service.

We do pay service tax to railway for offering good services. if train are running late then

why does Penalty clause missing . 10 time of railway ticket amount should be paid by

IRCTC for train late more than 3 hour.

Issues Identif ied:

1. Oil used in food is smelly2. Pantry car is in a very unhygienic condition3. There are many insects running around in the pantry car4. Food is served cold5. Food trays are kept on the floor6. Many times food boxes are kept outside toilets7. Chapatis are under-cooked

8. Tea bags are sub-standard9. Water bottles are served with broken seals10. Presentation is bad trays are wet and dirty11. Pantry boys dont wear a uniform or gloves12. Pantry boys take out spoons and tea bags from pockets of their dirty uniform13. Trains like Shatabdi and Rajdhani also serve sub-quality food14. Utensils used are dirty15. No proper place for food storage.16. No way to provide feedback on food

Root Causes Identified:

1. Catering services are outsourced, system for quality check has serious gaps2. Contracts are usually taken by small time vendors/ businessmen who want to makemaximum money during contract period3. Food is prepared and served by people with little knowledge of hygiene/service4. Lack of proper storage facilities the pantry car5. No background checks while choosing vendors6. No sense of responsibility - they use substandard food ingredients to save more &more money7. There is a corrupt nexus between the vendors and the officials8. Mistakes of the food contractors and pantry boys are overlooked9. Pantry boys fill the bottles with tap water and make money on them10. Contractors not fined in case they dont meet the required standards11. No supervisor appointed to oversee the pantry operations12. Pantry boys not educated on self -hygiene13. Visitor entry allowed via pantry to different coaches brings more dirt then revenue14. Insufficient facilities to preserve huge quantity foods

Solutions Identified:

1. Tough quality checks should be put in place for selecting food vendors2. Contracts should be given to big and established vendors3. Clear charter, quality and service metrics to be given to catering vendors4. Food contracts should be reviewed every quarter to keep vendors on toes

5. High penalty should be imposed on defaulting/non performing contractors6. Standard dispensing machine should be installed for items like milk, cornflakes,coffee, tea, pre made snacks, etc.

7. Passengers should be able to pre-order from a fixed menu8. Menu cards and price list is to be displayed in the coaches9. Food contractor's name and contact number, along with the concerned IRCTC

supervisor's name and contact number are to be displayed in each bogie10. The serving boys should necessarily wear a clean uniform and identity cards11. Pantry boys should be trained on maintaining hygiene and cleanliness12. CCTV should be installed in the pantry cars13. Instead of carrying trays in hand, the waiters should be provided with trolleys

14. The unauthorised vendors should not be allowed to enter the platforms15. Regular surprise quality checks of the pantry should be done by senior officials16. An effective online/mobile based citizen feedback mechanism should be set up17. Citizens should be able to rate Food and Service via the Make Railways Better

circle18. Railway officer must take action on any complaint within specified period of time19. Pantry coach should be redesigned with modern facilities and amenities20. Engaging Local Self Help Group of Railway Travellers to be a feet on the ground

and a secondary checkpoint can improve the situation21. Regular feedback should be taken from passengers like the local circles22. IRCTC should consider consulting with a Food Technological Research Institute
