I cannot wait for Spring like weather. I hope everyone had a glorious New Year. We have a new web master Orlando Jimeniz (OJ) who is currently trying to upgrade our site. Coming on February 22, 2014, the Suffolk Board of District Deputies will be hosting a “Knight at the Races” for our FAC Program at Bishop Fulton Sheen Council #7479. So please Brothers/Sisters we need to support this function because it will be going to help our Brothers/Sisters in need. Thank you Mike and your Board for doing this and also GK Roger Sirangelo for hosting it. Please see any of the District Deputies for tickets and let’s make this a huge success. This past month we held our Charity Drive Kick-Off meeting which was well received by all. What we need now is that every council and Columbiette auxiliary to get behind this and make this a huge success. Not only does it help our major recipient this year but also the other programs and charities the chapter sponsors. I know in my heart that Mike and his committee will do a Great Job! Thank You Amelia Joseph for a good representation from the Chapter Columbiettes. Thanks go out to Bishop McGann Council for hosting this also. This month’s meeting is also State Deputy Night to be held for the very first time at Joan of Arc Council # 1992 on February 21 . The council is located at 110 Myrtle Ave., Port Jefferson right off of Rte. 112. The council is very excited about holding a Chapter meeting let alone State Deputy Night. Just a friendly reminder that on March 29, 2014 there will be a Testimonial for Past Chapter Columbiette President Mary Lundin. Please let’s try to attend this event and celebrate her accomplishments for these past 2 years as Suffolk Chapter Columbiette President. Let’s continue to “make the sauce” with our sister Columbiettes. Another quick note DD John Mastrosimone’s testimonial as Past Faithful Navigator will be on February 23 at Stewart Thomas Manor. Don’t forget February 14 is Valentine’s Day and that is why we are not having a Chapter meeting on that day so we can be with our wives/girlfriends. After all if it weren’t for them we wouldn’t be able to do the things we do for the order. God Bless You All! God Bless America! Thomas A. My Dear Sister Columbiettes,

As I sit here and jot these few lines down, I, as all of us, await yet another snow fall. I hope you are all keeping safe and staying indoors when possible.

This year our Day of Recollection is being held on February 1, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at St. Sylvester’s Council

on Rt. 112 (not the church). I believe we have over 30 ladies registered and we are looking forward to a motivational and spiritual day. If you are interested in attending, please contact Jean Bodami or Nancy Yenke if interested because we are closing it at 40. The cost is $5.00 per person, plus the cost of your lunch. You may bring a bag lunch from home, or we will be ordering Chinese or Italian. See you then.

Our annual Birthright Baby Shower will take place at our February meeting at Resurrection of our Lord in Farmingville. The

date is February 17, 2014. We will begin with refreshments and presentations at 7:30 p.m. with our meeting starting at 8:00 p.m. Please note the time change and remember to bring new, unwrapped baby items.

Saturday, February 22, 2014, the Suffolk Board of District Deputies will be hosting a Night at the races to support the FAC

program. Since Super Storm Sandy, these funds have been hit hard and need to be replenished. As you are reminded at each meeting, the FAC is for you! We look forward to support from the Columbiettes!

Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 29, 2014 as we will be celebrating the great work of our Immediate Past Chapter

President Mary Lundin at her testimonial! We look forward to participation from each of our Auxiliaries. Our joint Communion Breakfast is being held on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at St. Sylvester’s in Medford. Tickets are $12

and include a complete breakfast. Please bring your basket donation to the next meeting if you have not done so already. See Nancy Bertran for tickets. Thanks!

Our Spring fundraiser is “The Class of Life” which will be held on April 4, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. at The Shrine of St. Anne

Council Hall in Brentwood. Tickets are available and our Chairladies, Anne Marie Callahan and Ethel Carter are ready to take your reservations. Tickets are $20 pp and include the show, coffee, tea and dessert. We will also be selling chances for a 50/50 and a Lotto Board. There will be a cash bar available before and after the show for those who are interested. We are looking forward to the support of each Auxiliary.

Our Spring Major Degree will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Mother Cabrini Council beginning at 2:00 p.m. Letters

will be soon sent to all Auxiliary Presidents. We look forward to having these wonderful Catholic women join us in our ranks. As I sign off with wishes from the Officers and myself for a Happy Valentine’s Day, I ask that you share with us one reason

why you like being a Columbiette! Email me your responses – [email protected]. Fraternally,

Amelia Joseph

In 1954, lobbying by the Order of the Knights of Columbus

helped convince the U.S. Congress to add the phrase "under

God" to the Pledge of Allegiance. President Dwight

Eisenhower wrote to Supreme Knight Luke E. Hart thanking

the Knights for their "part in the

movement to have the words 'under God'

added to our Pledge of Allegiance." “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United

States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God,

indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. ”

PLEASE EXPEDITE

Prayer for the Canonization of Father Michael J. McGivney God, our Father, protector of the poor and defender of the widow and orphan, you called your priest, Father Michael J. McGivney, to be an

apostle of Christian family life and to lead the young to the generous service of their neighbor. Through the example of his

life and virtue may we follow your Son, Jesus Christ, more closely, fulfilling his commandment of charity and building up

his Body which is the Church. Let the inspiration of your servant prompt us to greater confidence in your love so that we

may continue his work of caring for the needy and the outcast. We humbly ask that you glorify your servant

Father Michael J. McGivney on earth according to the design of your holy will. Through his intercession, grant the favor

I now present (here make your request). Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be to the Father.
