Suffolk Chapter Columbiettes

Happy New Year Brother Knights and Sister Columbiettes,

We would like to thank our Suffolk Chapter Knights for once again inviting us to the January 10th, 2020 Kick-Off. Also, as expected, the Bishop McGann Council once again did a superb job making a delicious dinner.

All of you by now have received the Manila envelope with all the information about the Charity Ball, Journal Ads, Sponsored Cards, Awards Books, and Direct Donations. Please Help our Brother Chapter Knights in having a successful Year. Your Contribution and Donation will help “Family in Arms” Children with Autism living in NY. In front of your award books is a list of the many organizations to which your monies go. So please read the information. If you have any questions you can call our Suffolk Chapter Columbiette Vice President Chairlady of Charity Drives, Lisa Liguori at 631-846-3495.

As we speak about “Charity” our FAC Valentine’s Dance is now only weeks away on Saturday February 8th. This program is also a worthy cause Helping Our Brother and Sister’s and their families who have fallen on Hard Times. All monies raised at this event will go to FAC, and might I add where are you going to go for $35.00 pp. Complete Dinner (choice of RB or 1/2 Stuff Chicken) Dessert, Beer, Wine, Soda, Coffee and Tea. Music by Tommy Sullivan (original singer of the 60’s group the Brooklyn Bridge).

So dance to memories, bring your sweetheart and let’s raise money for our Brothers and Sisters in Need! Our wonderful Liaison, John Mastrosimone has tickets. You can reach John at 631-943-577 or our Suffolk Chapter Treasurer, Debbie Zanio at 631-842-5890

In 1954, lobbying by the

Order of the Knights of

Columbus helped convince the

U.S. Congress to add the

phrase “under God” to the

Pledge of Allegiance.

President Dwight Eisenhower wrote to Supreme Knight, Luke E.

Hart, thanking the Knights for their “part in the movement to have

the words „under God‟ added to our Pledge of Allegiance.”

“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America,

and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God,

indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

Prayer for the Canonization of Father Michael J. McGivney

God, our Father, protector of the poor and defender of the widow and orphan, you called your priest, Father

Michael J. McGivney, to be an apostle of Christian family life and to lead the young to the generous service

of their neighbor. Through the example of his life and virtue may we follow your Son,

Jesus Christ, more closely, fulfilling his commandment of charity and building up his

Body which is the Church. Let the inspiration of your servant prompt us to greater

confidence in your love so that we may continue his work of caring for the needy and

outcast. We humbly ask that you glorify your venerable servant Father Michael J.

McGivney on earth according to the design of your holy will. Through his intercession,

grant the favor I now present (here make your request). Through Christ our Lord.

Amen. Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be to the Father
