SUE Architekten In the basement, where formerly there was a Chinese restaurant/Karaoke bar, SUE ARCHITEKTEN implanted the new bar at schon schön – called ‘Goldfinger’. The main space is dominated solely by the shimmering gold seatee consisting of multiple elements allowing for flexible arrangement. Therefore, it can be used during dimly lit bar nights as well as for dancing or DJ events. The prevailing theme at the ground floor – dining together at one single table – is further developed in the bar. The seatee meanders through the room creating open areas of communication as well as cosy, intimate places. Tests have shown that this setting is perfect to satisfy both the need for private conversation and the desire to get in touch with others. And then there also was the bar owner’s desire to have a smoky ‘Mafia Room’. The ritzy snug called die Schnecke [the snail] gives the guests the possibility to withdraw from the public. It’s a private space where – by pushing a button - the guest can decadently order another bottle of Champagne. Unlike in the main room on the ground floor, the bar is not short of effects. The floral upholstery voluntarily evokes images of Viennese fin-de-siècle bars. The iridescent gold upholstery finally provides the opulence the three friends have been waiting for.
