REPORT ON DIAMOND DRILL EXPLORATION

CLAIMS IN MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP S.S.KARIE MINING DIVISION, ONTARIO

A vertical exploration drill hole was COBB -need on June 22nd, to explore the potential of the Bruce limestone aa a replacement

boat rook for b*** ne tala.

The structural geology and mineralization in the area indicated ideal conditions for replaceuent type orebodies in this formation. Geo logical nape show that the Quirke Lake thrust fault swings southerly to follow the topographic linear of the Blind River Bwr.in. Thin thru* t fault would have produced najor streoyea in the area under explorftlioni"" "

The Bruce limestone outcropping on the west shore of Hotinenda Lake has been altered; chert but no sulphides are present. Mineralizing solutions ni gr o tin g up the thrust shear presumably hid lost ell mineral content except silicic acid. East-west quartz reins containing good grade pockets of copper ore indicate a source oapajj^o^prpdu^ijig large orebodiee. It is assumed that the source of these oolutionc is the basic gabbro intrusive located immediately south of th* property in Kontponery township.

Prior to drilling it was estimated that the favourable horizon, i.e. Bruce limestone, would be located at a depth b*tw^*JL.ljOCX;LB.n(l 2,000^ feet. The Gowganda formation dips at a much flatter angle (3* ^ 3*} than surface outcrops indicate (10* ^ 5*)* The Bruce 'litDesTone" should norm ally, therefore, have been present at a depth less than the minimum estimate.

The vertical displncemcnt of t^e Quirke Lake-Blind River thrust fault was ascurned to be yX^-^OO feet - the known vertical displacement at Quirke Lake. This ascunption wae completely erroneour. The thickneos of Oovgande forration determined by drilli^ Indicates e ninimui vertical

of 2,000 feet.

OQ

The depth of the Bruce limestone being beyond the limit* of feaa* ible exploration, drilling waa discontinued va August 28** 1963, at 2,973 feet, still in Gowganda formation. * ~-

The Bruce limestone outcrops on the west

shore of Matinenda Lake at an elevation

of approximately 900*. Collar of drill

The Bruce limestone should have been located

at a depth of 1600* more or less. The Quirk'

Lake-Blind River thrust fault located

between limestone outcrop and drill hole,

has, therefore, a vertical throw in this

area in excess of 2000* in contrast to
