COMMUNICATION

Most of what goes on in an organization is communication. So it is very important to have proper communication skills in order to excel.

It is a well researched fact that in any business or social organization people with good command of the English Language are by default pushed to the position of leadership. English is no longer a foreign language, its the accepted global language for communication. Hence proficiency in both written and verbal English is of utmost importance.

ACTIVE LISTENING

Always listen to what Interviewers have to say

This shows respect for them. You also gain a lot from ‘active listening', which means you are paying attention to

what is being said. This also helps in incorporating changes to the answers that

needs to be given by YOU.

What is Body Language ???

Body language plays a big role in intuition as it gives us messages about the other person, that we can interpret at an intuitive level.

Body language is nonverbal

communication that involves body movement. “Gesturing" can also be termed as body language which is absolutely non-verbal means of communication.

Some Do’s ……….. Eye contact is direct and

powerful.  A firm handshake will give the

impression of assertiveness or honesty

People showing open hands, both feet planted on the ground are accepting

A head tilted to the side indicates interest

Don’t slouch, sit up straight Nod when you are talking Talk slowly & clearly ……..don't

rush Relax your shoulders

Some Don’ts ………… Fidgeting shows boredom and restlessness.

Pressing fingers together to form a steeple shows interests, assertiveness and determination.

Touching the nose or rubbing eyes indicates discomfort.

A hand to the back of the neck may indicate withdrawal from a conversation.

Leaning backwards demonstrates aloofness or rejection

Folding arms across ones chest or body is protective and gives the impression of a closed, guarded and defensive character.

A head down is negative and judgmental

BE CONFIDENT

Know your strengths and weaknesses, personality type,

learning style, goals, needs constraints and

resources.

• Gather Information before appearing for an interview. Ensure you know about the company’s profile & the role you are applying for

• Have reasons why you think this role would suit/interest you

• Incase it’s a out stationed position are you capable of moving there??

Know about the Company’s –

1. Vision & Mission2. Strategic Intent3. Growth Prospects 4. Hierarchy5. If selected whom you would be Reporting Into? 6. Confirmation Policy Etc…..

PERSISTENCE PAYS

Perseverance is the key to success. Always try to improve yourself. Commitment to and passion in what one chooses to do coupled with determination to excel, is critical to success.

Whatever you do always keep thinking how you can improve on it or how it can be done in a better way. Don't get bogged down by the problems.

ALL ROUND ATTENTION

Be an expert in a particular thing and at the same time try to develop multi functional

knowledge. In other words one should be a jack-of–all–trades and master of one. You should know your subject and be aware of

the nitty- gritties involved in the job.
