Subject Description
Language 2 is designed to help the Grade 2 pupils develop basic communication skills and give
opportunities to listen, speak, read and write in simple situations. It deals with the study of the six
parts of speech namely simple nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs and prepositions. It aims
to develop the grade I pupils such skills as spelling, capitalization and punctuations. Oral
Communication skills in using simple greetings and polite expressions, reciting poems, reading
conversations, dialogues, asking and answering questions are given as opportunities to use in English
language communication. It includes list of spelling words, activities and projects that will enhance
the aforementioned skills.
General Objectives
1. To develop the learners to perform the language function through grammatical structures.
1. To show mastery in recognizing the six parts of speech namely; simple nouns, pronouns, verb, adjectives, adverb and prepositions and use them in correct sentences.
2. To demonstrate skills in spelling, capitalizations and use of correct punctuation marks.
3. To build self-confidence in communication through simple practical exercises and speaking situation.
4. To write two to three sentences to form simple paragraph.
5. To develop poise and confidence in the learners in oral communication.
